EDMONTON — Avalanche center Brad Malone played 10:12 and registered one shot in his NHL debut Friday night at Rexall Place. It went pretty well after a mid-ice collision on his first shift gave him a swollen face below his right eye. He centered a fourth line with Chuck Kobasew and Cody McLeod in the Avs’ humbling 4-1 loss. “It was a pretty fun last 24 hours here,” said Malone, who arrived before the rest of the Avs late Thursday night, after their 3-2 loss at Calgary. “It’s definitely a learning experience, pretty humbling when you get up here. Lot more to learn. I had (last) night to collect my thoughts, but it’s been a pretty crazy day. I’ve been wanting to do this since I can remember. I’ll remember it the rest of my life. It’s too bad we didn’t get the win.” Malone was called up from Lake Erie of the AHL because Paul Stastny has a torso injury and Kevin Porter is on suspension.
