The New York Islanders have signed unrestricted free agent goalie Martin Biron to a one-year, $1.4 million contract. Seems like a decent move, as Biron is a decent goalie, putting up a .915 save percentage and a 2.76 goals against average with the Flyers this past season. The odd part about this is that earlier in free agency the Islanders signed Edmonton Oilers goaltender Dwayne Roloson to a two-year, $5 million contract. Roloson kept the Oilers alive this past season, tallying very nice numbers for them. Even odder, is that the Isles have Rick DiPietro locked up until 2021 after signing him to a 15-year contract a while back. Apparently, Garth Snow has trouble counting as they now have in his words "...three bona-fide No. 1 goalies." Um...Garth? You only need two goalies and one "bona-fide starter."
