Found January 30, 2009 on America Least:
Damien takes down Howie the Hawk and is the first mascot in the semifinals. Now it is time to kick things New England style. However, before we do that, lets get pumped up for some Mascot insanity...

With that, it is time for Quarterfinal #2. This is a special match-up, as the two mascots represent schools that are meeting for the 105th time in their history in 2008-09...

#3 BANANAS T. BEAR (MAINE) VS. #6 WILD E. CAT (NEW HAMPSHIRE)

3. Bananas T. Bear - Maybe one of the least recognized mascots in the America East. However, this bear has been around. While some mascots in the conference are in their twenties, Bananas has been kicking it for a while. How long? Before the Great Depression!

While it is cool that he has been on his game for so long, he also knows how to have fun. He helps put the "Animal House" into the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity. That's right! Bananas has been a frat boy since the 1960's.

Bananas has had much success in men's hockey and baseball over the past few years. He was also big in the 1990's in women's basketball. However, when it comes to men's basketball, Bananas has fallen short.

In the end, this old-timer has been a vital part of Maine Athletics for decades. Can he bring home another title for Maine? That is up to you!

#6 Wild E. Cat - Wild E. Cat is an old timer like Bananas. He has been around since 1940. However, some tend to question if Wild E. Cat is the real symbol of New Hampshire Athletics. He was upstaged by Fudge the Wildcat, a real wildcat, starting in 1969. While Fudge was a star in the 1970 film "The Mascot", Wild E. Cat was the one on the sidelines.

While the wildcat is known to be one of the most vicious animals on earth, Wild E. Cat has had trouble finding success in the America East. His true success lies in hockey and football.

Wild E. Cat has been waiting a long time to bring home a title for UNH. The Wildcats have not won a conference championship in men's basketball since 1903. Wild E. Cat may have little success, but he still is willing to put up a fight. Can this cat take down his hated enemy? That's your call!
