The Pittsburgh Penguins have placed Ryan Bayda on waivers this afternoon. If he clears at 11:59am Eastern tomorrow, he will be assigned to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, who open their season on Saturday night against the Syracuse Crunch. Also: Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguin forward Rob Schremp has been claimed off waivers by the New York Islanders. Toronto has placed goaltender Joey MacDonald on waivers. The Atlanta Thrashers have cut goaltender Manny Legace from camp.
