Veteran goaltender Ed Belfour, defenseman Mark Howe and offensive stars Doug Gilmour and Joe Nieuwendyk were elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame on Tuesday. A two-time Vezina Trophy winner, Belfour ranked third all-time in goaltender wins with 484. Belfour won the Stanley Cup with the Dallas Stars in 1999 and captured the Calder Trophy with the Chicago Blackhawks. A six-time All-Star, Howe represented the Philadelphia Flyers in a pair of Stanley Cup Finals losses. Howe collected 1,246 points over 22 seasons split between the World Hockey Association and the NHL. A Selke Trophy winner, Gilmour recorded 450 goals and 964 assists in 20 seasons with the St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Blackhawks, Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens. Nieuwendyk gained entry into the Hall of Fame on his second attempt. A three-time Stanley Cup winner, Nieuwendyk collected 564 goals and 562 assists with the Flames, Stars, Devils, Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers.
