After spending 3 days dealing with the stress of taking the Bar and ignoring everything hockey, I was hoping to reawaken to the hockey world by opening NHL.com and see that the Wings signed Semin and/or Doan.   So I'll admit, it stung when I saw these two stories:

Yup, a double kick right into the gut.  There was part of me that wanted to fling my computer across the room and write a story sorta like this one.  But you know, that wasn't enough to break my spirit, not on a day like today.  I'm in a good mood and nothing Kenny does (or doesn't do) is going to ruin that.  So I'm going to continue to believe the idea that Detroit is the best run franchise on the planet.  That Smith is going to have a breakout year and will be our next god on the blueline.  That a certain Russian will age like Nick Lidstrom.  And that at Kyle Quincey is actually underpaid at 3.75 million.

But mostly that Kenny knows something we don't about this new CBA and this entire summer has been in his gameplan all along.  Because it's all going to be alright in the end.   We've been told the sky is falling before, that Detroit's run was over.   Turned out it was just raining Datsyuks and Zetterbergs.

I'm choosing to believe that again.   LGRW.
