Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United spoke with Jeff Beaukeboom, who will replace J.J. Daigneault as the defensive coach of the Connecticut Whale. And it's very clear that Beukeboom is excited about coming back to the Rangers' organization.

"I've had a long relationship with Glen Sather," explained Beukeboom. "He drafted me in Edmonton, so was a big part right from the start for me. I am so excited to be a part of the process with the Rangers, and so excited for the organization where it's headed, and for the fans because the organization is at such a great point in the history of the team. The players are coming into their own, and everything looks so positive. I feel fortunate to be part of that process. I feel honored to have this opportunity, and I really look forward to the challenge."

Beuk also talks about prospect Dylan Mcilrath, who will be playing for the Connecticut Whale this upcoming season, and Beuk seems to know that McIlrath is a player he is fit to tutor.

"The organization has invested a high draft pick and a lot of time and energy into a young prospect who brings a different skill set to the table. Obviously his skill set is hard to find in a defenseman. I really look forward to working with (McIlrath)."

While the jury is still out on how successful he will be from a tactical and developmental standpoint, it's important that coaches in the minors are energized and seeking to make a difference in the lives of young players. And Beukeboom evidently wants to be a part of the development of individuals as well as the success of the Rangers as a whole. I've already asserted that J.J. Daigneault is a tough loss for the Rangers, but Beukeboom is absolutely a qualified replacement, and his return to the organization makes for a great story as well.
