The New York Rangers made a smart move by re-signing their backup netminder Martin Biron to a 2-year deal. Larry Brooks ‏@NYP_Brooksie NYR have completed vital bit of business. Post has learned that Biron has re-upped for 2 years, $2.6 total. There is no doubt that Biron has been a valuable asset to the Blueshirts since joining the team in the 2010-11 season. Biron has showed the team and its brass that he can be relied on to provide starter Henrik Lundqvist with relief, can win some hockey games and be a great supporting guy to both Lundqvist and the rest of the Rangers’ hockey club. In 21 games this past season, Biron went 12-6-2 with a 2.46 goals against average, a .904 save percentage and 2 shutouts. While he did allow some questionable goals this season, those numbers are good enough to make him one of the best backup goaltenders in the NHL. What are your thoughts?
