Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is optimistic that he could be back in the lineup next week.
Toews has been sidelined since suffering a concussion in a game against the St. Louis Blues on Feb. 19.
The 23-year-old center said he is trying to get as close to game shape as possible.
"I definitely need a few more days to kind of see how it goes through this weekend, and we'll see where we're at next week, I guess," Toews said.
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Toews could be cleared for contact in the next day or two.
Toews has 29 goals and 28 assists in 59 games for the Blackhawks, who were in sixth place in the Western Conference entering Thursday's action.
