Boynton had been placed on waivers by Chicago at the end of the week. He was a member of last year’s championship squad, after being acquired in a deadline deal with the Anaheim Ducks. He was on the ice for Patrick Kane‘s overtime goal in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals. While Boynton’s numbers might look better than Niklas Hjalmarsson or Jordan Hendry, we know numbers don’t tell the whole story.
