Blackhawks Playoff Bend: Teuvo Teravainen Ignites the Rally

Without the Blackhawks participating, the Playoff Bend looks at former Hawks having an impact with their current team in the playoffs. Today looks at former forward Teuvo Teravainen and also keeps you up to date with the big story from each of other playoff games from the previous day. 

Ask a Blackhawks fan who watched Teuvo Teravainen in the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs and they likely recall the goal he scored to rally the Hawks in Game One of the Stanley Cup Final.

On Tuesday, he was igniting the rally as the Carolina Hurricanes stared down a 3-0 deficit through the middle of the second period. Teraivainen’s goal not only put the Hurricanes on the board, but it ramped up their attack, shifting momentum into their corner and jumpstarting five unanswered goals as Carolina is now up 2-0 in the series after a 5-3 victory.

Teravainen was dealt as a sweetener to unload Bryan Bickell’s contract back in 2016. It was a bittersweet move at the time but as that time has moved forward, it’s become more of a regret as it contributed to the Hawks descent that would happen over time.

Teuvo Teravainen, Max Domi Clutch In Respective Wins

Max Domi barely spent a season in Chicago but he made enough of an impact that some Hawks fans wouldn’t mind seeing him back. Domi scored Toronto’s first goal and assisted on Auston Matthews’ game winner as Toronto evened the series with Boston with a 3-2 victory Monday night.

Domi’s two points put him at a point-per-game rate right now–and those two points gives Toronto a chance to go home with some momentum. In Dallas, where Domi was dealt to by Chicago, the Stars were upset by the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3. The cap circumventing fears many had reared its ugly head when Mark Stone opened the scoring for Vegas.
