PHOTO: Guy watches 'Ellen' at a Blackhawks game

Seriously, dude? I love Ellen as much as the next person, but not at the Blackhawks game.  Come on, guy. Is this what our country has come to?  Are we so attached to our mobile devices that we have to watch them when we’re at sporting events that we paid money for? Sure, one could make the argument that perhaps it was between periods, but I don’t care! Intermissions are the...

Chicago Blackhawks: A win and the return of “the rat”

David Bolland spent his whole NHL career helping the Chicago Blackhawks win two Stanley Cups and bring hockey back to Chicago. As with any sport though, it is a business and Bolland was another example of the business side of the NHL this past offseason as the Hawks traded the forward to the Toronto Maple Leafs for multiple draft picks.   Saturday, Bolland returned to the United...

Hawks make line changes to shake out of funk

The Chicago Blackhawks trotted out their shuffled lines at Friday’s practice with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane split Brandon Saad on the top line and Bryan Bickell on the third. Hey not like they’re getting massive scoring with their current combos. The Blackhawks are looking for a way to shake out of their barely scoring slumber as they prepare to host the Toronto Maple...

Bickell keys Blackhawks' 3-1 win over Maple Leafs

Bryan Bickell waited patiently as he skated in front of the net, and then slammed it home when he saw a small opening. And just like that, the drought was over. Bickell sparked Chicago's big second period with his first goal of the season, helping the Blackhawks beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1 on Saturday night. ''That one was a nice one,'' said Bickell, who...

Hard to Swallow: Blackhawks 2, Blues 3 (SO)

A shootout affair in Chicago ends with the Blues taking the 2nd point from the Blackhawks after an evenly played game. The Blackhawks opened the scoring with Brandon Pirri wristing a shot past Halak for his first NHL goal. Happy for the kid. He found the open ice, didn’t hesitate, and dented twine. Unfortunately, the Blackhawks take a penalty and give it right back. After a faceoff...

Blues rebound in Chicago, 3-2

Eight days after his club fell to the Blues Chicago coach Joel Quenneville was still fuming Wednesday over a loss that came in the closing seconds. “I’m over it now” Quenneville admitted Thursday morning as his Blackhawks were preparing to host the Blues. “It bothered me a bit … but you have to move on.” The rematch was about moving on for the Blues as well.
