In Tuesdays's arbitration hearing Blake Wheeler and his agent obviously presented an impactful case, with the outcome resulting in a one-year $2.2 million award.
The 6-foot-5 250 lbs winger, who at times is reluctant to use his body, put up 18 goals, 20 assists, for 38 points in 82 games last year with the B's.
The number is supposedly in the range of what the Bruins would be willing to pay, being said anything under $2.5 million will likely result in them re-signing the slumping sophomore. However, it is a significant increase in salary for Wheeler, who received $875K last season.
If you add on all of his performance bonuses from the previous season, Wheeler would have received $2.85 million, so in reality he took about a $600K paycut.
Either way the Bruins are expected to resign the youngster, ad if they don't you can expect an array of teams to be in the running for his services.
