Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Marc Methot is sidelined indefinitely after breaking his finger during Friday's 5-2 loss to the undefeated Detroit Red Wings.
Methot suffered the injury while blocking a shot with his hand.
"It exploded when he got hit by the puck. It was opened up to the point where ... well, I don't want to gross anybody out, but it was ugly. It exposed the tip, put it that way," Blue Jackets coach Scott Arniel told the Columbus Dispatch.
"They stitched it up, but the top part of it is broken."
The 26-year-old Ottawa native has yet to record a point in six games this season for the beleaguered Blue Jackets (0-6-1).
