COLUMBUS, Ohio -- If the Columbus Blue Jackets spectacular run this season has proven anything, its this: When theres a winning product on the ice, Columbus fans will come. And they did it in stunning fashionSaturday night as a sell-out crowd of 19,002 gathered in Nationwide Arena to watch their boys beat the Nashville Predators 3-1. The hearty group, which was quieted in the second period by a Nashville goal, started gathering outside the ticket office before noon for the 7 p.m. game and packed the Arena District for pre-gaming long before the doors officially opened at 6. It was quite a nightfan appreciation nightand it was made even more special when the Blue Jackets organization allowed fans to stay and watch the final seven minutes of the Minnesota Wild game versus the Colorado Avalanche. Detroit had already clinched the 7th spot in the Western Conferenceif the Wild won, they moved into 8th, tying the Jackets and winning due to regulation wins. If the Wild lost, the Jackets would have clinched their second playoff berth. Around 3,000 people stayed to watch the Wild clinch, beating the Avalanche 3-1. It was no matter. Columbus fans electrified Nationwide Arena from the moment the doors opened, sporting their gear with a sense of pride and hope. Not just hope to clinch a playoff spotbut hope for a new way of doing things. The future is bright for these Jacketsand the loud, hopeful, happy and celebratory crowd made sure to let them know they thought so, too.

Categories: BREAKING NEWS Flyers News NHLTags: Anthony StolarzColumbus Blue JacketsLondon KnightsPortland WinterhawksSergei BobrovskyIt’s difficult to look back at the trade of goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky to the Columbus Blue Jackets and not stir a little. No Doubting The Blue Jackets

from Michael Arace of the Columbus Dispatch, Whatever happens, the Jackets have written one of the best stories of this truncated season. Their goaltender, Sergei Bobrovsky, is the front-runner for the Vezina Trophy (best goaltender) and is integral to the script. Yet the cast is large and the tale seems pure fantasy. Since Feb. 26, when they had the worst record in the...

Sergei Bobrovsky makes seven saves in a few seconds

In the Columbus Blue Jackets final game of the regular season and a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs on the line, Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky did everything in his power to keep their season alive.  Bobrovsky made seven saves in a matter of a few seconds in order to keep the game at tied at 0-0 and secured his spot as a Vezina Trophy Finalist.  There was complete chaos...

One Point Keeps The Blue Jackets Out Of The Postseason

from Aaron Portzline of Puck-Rakers, The Blue Jackets finished one point out of the playoffs. Former GM Scott Howson's rule did not come back to bite them; they would have lost out to the Wild in the previous tie-breaker scenario (total wins), too. But this one stings. It stings for many because of the way this team played: so tough, so resilient, so full of passion...

Blue Jackets Keep Cam Atkinson For Two More Years by   Steven Ellis

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Cam Atkinson to a contract extension, a deal that will pay the young winger $2.3 million over the next two seasons. Originally selected by Columbus with its eighth pick, 157th overall, at the 2008 NHL Draft, he signed a two-year entry level contract with the club back in March of 2011. The small [...]

Predators close season with loss to Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Jack Johnson scored the go-ahead goal with 4:48 left and the Columbus Blue Jackets capped a remarkable turnaround with a 3-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Saturday. But despite that win, Columbus was eliminated from the playoff race when the Minnesota Wild beat the Colorado Avalanche later on Saturday to earn the final postseason spot in the Western Conference...

Glen Miller: Columbus Does Their Part but Get No Help and Miss Playoffs

Turn out the lights, the party is over; at least it is for the Columbus Blue Jackets and their fans. The Jackets did their part by beating Nashville last night at Nationwide Arena but following Detroit's 3 - 0 victory over Dallas, Columbus needed Minnesota to lose to make it into the postseason. The Wild held on in the third period and downed Colorado 2 - 1 at the Pepsi Center...

Jackets win game, but not berth

Jack Johnson scored the go-ahead goal with 4:48 left and the Columbus Blue Jackets capped a remarkable turnaround with a 3-1 victory over the Nashville Predators on Saturday. Hope For Columbus

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail, Detroit is up a point on Columbus and has the tie-breaker in its favour, meaning the Blue Jackets need Detroit to lose in regulation in their final game against the Dallas Stars, which would allow Columbus to slip past them in the standings with a victory. Seems improbable, except for the fact that two years ago, a similar sort of...

CBJ happy with playoff run, upset it fell short

A day after barely missing the playoffs, Columbus players, management and coaching staff were pleased with their strong finish while distraught they didn't accomplish...

Blue Jackets need win, and some help, on Saturday

It might be the most important regular-season game in Columbus Blue Jackets history - or maybe just the end of a remarkable turnaround. When they host the Nashville Predators on Saturday night in the final game on their schedule, the Blue Jackets still hold out hope of making the Stanley Cup playoffs. ''We were just talking in the back, the coaches, and our players have...
