Columbus Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson looked calm and relaxed Saturday in the back hallways of the Consol Energy Center during the final rounds of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in Pittsburgh, Pa. The patient GM with a knack for remaining calm under pressure -- sometimes accused of being too calm -- was speaking coolly on the phone. This did not look like a GM who still has a multi-million dollar athlete on his payroll despite Captain Rick Nash asking to be traded earlier this year. Nash remains a Blue Jacket at a time when many thought he would be gone. And Howson, who, according to media reports, met with Nash's agent Thursday, remains firm the Captain will remain with the club until he gets a good enough offer. Reports indicate that may not happen until well into July. Until then, Howson can breathe for a second after making six solid picks in this weekend's draft and trading for a decent game-ready goaltender to bolster his club now and into the future. &quo...

Rick Nash Trade Wouldn't Make Sense for Most Teams Given Risk of Such a Deal

If and when Rick Nash is traded, he'll bring plenty of star power to his new team. Star power only means so much. Nash is an exceptional talent, no doubt, but whichever team finally pulls the trigger on a deal for the five-time All-Star may end up doing so more out of desperation than necessity. Because of that, the Blue Jackets will likely come away as the winners of any trade...

Rick Nash's List of Teams He'd Be Willing to Waive NMC For: Ottawa's Not on It

The latest Rick Nash news comes courtesy of Aaron Portzline from the Columbus Dispatch: The New York Rangers, San Jose and Ottawa are potential destinations, too, but strike the Rangers from that list if they land Parise during free agency. The Dispatch has learned that Ottawa is not on the list of teams that Nash would waive his no-trade clause for, so he would...
