Last season, as the St. Louis Blues struggled with numerous injuries to forwards T.J. Oshie, Andy McDonald, and David Perron, forward Vladimir Sobotka was asked to play in situations that the 23 year old was not accustomed to.
Sobotka was one of the Blues top penalty killers last season, but also found himself on the number one scoring line as well as on the power play. While those roles may not be exactly ideal for Sobotka's game, the fact that the Blues inked the forward to a new three year, $3.9 million contract should be good news for Blues fans.
Sobotka is the perfect third line player. He plays hard, is great defensively, and is a magnificent skater. Sobotka can also find the back of the net, scoring seven goals and assisting 22 others.
