Re-signing free-agent forward Jamie Langenbrunner was an obvious call for the Blues. So did moving out career pest B.J. Crombeen and a fifth-round pick to Tampa Bay for a couple of fourth-round picks.Langenbrunner’s return keeps the team’s core leadership group largely intact for the coming season. Although he has reached the twilight of his career, Langenbrunner, 36, can still a variety of roles on the ice and assist coach Ken Hitchcock and captain David Backes off the ice.Last season Langenbrunner played 70 games, scoring 6 goals and adding 18 assists with a plus-7 rating. Although he has clearly lost a step from his heyday, he can play in all game situations and fill a spot on any of the four lines. What is the definition of a “glue player”? Jamie Langenbrunner. He played a notable role in the vast Blues improvement last season.Crombeen’s exit cleared a NHL contract off the books and created opportunity for emerging power forward Ryan Reaves to play regularly. Peoria ruffian Anthony Peluso could also see some daylight after this move.
