Rangers Send Zuccarello Down To Connecticut Whale, Recall Kris Newbury

After being a non factor for the New York Rangers opening three games this season, only playing 7:55 tonight, Mats Zuccarello has been sent down to the Connecticut Whale according to Andrew Gross.  The early performance is disappointing for Zuccarello as he had an excellent camp/preseason to secure the spot to start the year. Kris Newbury who has eight points (4G, 4A) already...

Video: Marian Gaborik’s Breakaway Goal Against Islanders

… yes, this was a BEAUTIFUL goal but the best part about it was the amazingly accurate pass from Brad Richards. Richards is worth his weight in gold and if both he and Gaborik stay healthy this will be a fun line to watch all season long.

Wolski (Groin) Out Vs Islanders

According to Andrew Gross Wojtek Wolski will not be in tonight's lineup for the New York Rangers.  Wolski not playing is not a big surprise as he was the extra skater in practice yesterday as he tries to get over a sore groin that has plagued him since the middle of training camp.  With Wolski out the fourth line will be Rupp-Christensen-Zuccarello.

Video: Derek Stepan Discusses Playing On The Rangers Top Line

… I really love this move and hope to see Stepan find instant success with Gaborik and Richards tomorrow.

Pregame: Rangers In Need of Fresh Start Against Islanders

The New York Rangers did not get the start to the 2011-12 season that they wanted when facing the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks over in Europe last weekend, but a week later now, that is all behind them. The trip was a great experience for all of the players, but the bottom line is that it was too lengthy for their liking. By the time the first two games of the regular season...

Rangers Not A Playoff Team?

Following the signing of Brad Richards many of the “experts” have written the New York Rangers are locks to make the playoffs and some have even said they could be threats to contend.  Rob Simpson obviously did not get that memo.  Simpson, writing at Hockey Buzz, wrote that the Rangers are still extremely flawed and his estimation are not even a playoff team this season...

Game Preview: New York Rangers vs New York Islanders

TODAY’S GAME The Rangers will face-off against the New York Islanders tomorrow at Nassau Coliseum (7:00 p.m.), in an Atlantic Division match-up. The Rangers (0-0-2, 2 pts) enter tomorrow’s contest having been defeated by the Ducks, 2-1, in the shootout on Oct. 8 to complete the 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere in Stockholm, Sweden with an [...]

Testing, testing, 1, 2, 3

Been working on this since Monday, because I want to be able to post audio for youse guys when I go to games and practices this season. So here’s a test of some old audio from John Tortorella and Henrik Lundqvist. Hope it works. Let me know if you like it. And thanks to our tech guy, Jeff Marx (hockey fan) for setting this up for me. Here’s Torts: Here’s Hank:

NHL Notebook: Younger Boogaard pleads guilty to brother's death

The brother of former NHL strongman Derek Boogaard pleaded guilty Thursday in Minneapolis to a gross misdemeanor in his brother's overdose death, admitting to what his attorney called "an error of judgment" in destroying evidence in the case. Aaron Boogaard reached a plea deal in Hennepin County that lets him walk free with a stayed six-month sentence, plus probation...

Post-game audio, second try

Sorry about that for those who saw the previous post before I removed the failed attempt at audio. So we try again: Hope this works. Here’s Captain Callahan: Here’s Dan Girardi: Here’s Henrik Lundqvist: Here’s Brian Boyle: And here’s John Tortorella’s post-game press conference, during which he blamed himself for putting Brad Richards back out on the point...

Evgeni Nabokov Starting For Islanders Against Rangers

… I really wanted to see Al Montoya get the start against his former team but to see the new Rangers offense against a goalie like Evgeni Nabokov early in the season will be nice.  It’s going to be a test, but I expect the Rangers to walk away with a win.

In Need of Opening Win Rangers Cannot Sleep On Improving Islanders

When the New York Rangers take on the New York Islanders this evening it will be a battle of two rivals with very different goals.  For the Rangers they are looking to get their first win of the season and secure a big two points before they head out on a Western Canada trip starting Monday.  Coming off an 0-0-2 start in Sweden against very good Anaheim and Los Angeles...
