Bolton have appealed against the red card shown to Gary Cahill during Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Tottenham.
The centre-back was dismissed at White Hart Lane following a late tackle on Scott Parker in the early stages of the Premier League clash.
Referee Stuart Attwell decided that Cahill denied Parker a clear goal-scoring opportunity, despite the fact that the defender hauled down the 31-year-old 40 yards from goal when the visitors had plenty of cover.
The Trotters players and management were furious with the red card and chairman Phil Gartside branded the decision an "absolute disgrace".
Owen Coyle, whose team remain 18th following their latest defeat, has made it clear he feels Bolton have strong grounds for a successful appeal against Cahill's suspension.
The manager, who has seen five of his players sent off in the league already this season, said after the game: "I will be appealing the decision as soon as I can.
"It was baffling, bemusing."

The Colorado Avalanche faced off against the Amway Detroit Red Wings for the third time this season after being outscored 8-2 in the first two games. And lo and behold - this time the team got the result I was hoping for during Peter Forsberg’s jersey retirement night. After an uninspired first period, the Avs came out hard in the second period and outworked a Red Wings team that...
I’m off to Vancouver tomorrow morning so I’m not going to spend a ton of time on this post-game wrap. The main points:
– Center Paul Stastny suffered what the team is calling a torso injury. I didn’t see him go down, but it was in the third period. Stastny, who scored a power-play goal to give the Avs a 2-1 lead, played 15:41, with two shots. Adrian Dater will have an update...

Bolton defender Gary Cahill has won his appeal against the red card he received in Saturday's Premier League loss to Tottenham. Cahill was sent off by referee Stuart Atwell for bringing down England teammate Scott Parker in the 18th minute. Bolton was already down 1-0 when it was reduced to 10 men and lost 3-0.
VANCOUVER — Avalanche center Paul Stastny practiced this morning but will miss his first game of the season tonight when Colorado plays the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena.
Ryan O'Reilly scored twice and Gabriel Landeskog had two assists as the Colorado Avalanche took a 4-2 decision over the Detroit Red Wings at Pepsi Center.
Turnover after turnover cost the Red Wings their winning streak Sunday night as they were run ragged by a young Colorado Avalanche team. The Wings fell, 4-2, at the Pepsi Center, undone ignominiously enough by a shorthanded goal that ended a string of seven straight victories.
The odds of the Red Wings extending their season-high winning streak to eight games tonight at Colorado are in their favor.
