A.B. Although the Boston Bruins are still waiting for Carl Soderberg’s current league, The Swedish Ice Hockey Federation, to give Soderberg his release, the B’s have reached an agreement with the 27 year old forward. According to TSN, “The Bruins will pay Soderberg $600,000 this season, including a $500,000 signing bonus, and $1 million per season for the next two years.” Now that Patrice Bergeron is out with a concussion and Brad Marchand left last night’s game with a head injury, the Bruins faithful are hoping Soderberg will be with the team come playoff time in late April. And while the hype is building in Boston and Soderberg is credited as being the best player in the Swedish Elite League – many Bruins fans are wondering exactly how Soderberg’s game will translate in the NHL. Let’s start with the raw numbers: First 2 seasons aside, Soderberg has hovered around a point per game for his career. If he is able to continue this success in the NHL, the Bruins may have found a diamon...

Patrice Bergeron Working Out Again, Peter Chiarelli Encouraged by Progress

The Bruins will struggle to do much of anything in the playoffs with Patrice Bergeron, and after the center suffered his fourth concussion last week against Ottawa, there was fear that the B’s could be without Bergeron for some time. However, it sounds like the reigning Selke winner continues to progress in his comeback attempts, and he’s already hit a couple of milestones on...

Vancouver Golf Course Promises Anton Volchenkov Free Golf for Rest of Year After Dirty Hit on Brad Marchand

The Bruins won the Stanley Cup by beating the Canucks in 2011, but some of the Vancouver population just can’t seem to let bygones be bygones. On Thursday night, shortly after the Bruins announced that Brad Marchand had sustained a concussion after a hit by New Jersey defenseman Anton Volchenkov, a Vancouver golf course tweeted out an offer rewarding Volchenkov for his dirty...

Bruins Dealing With More Bad News Than Good Despite Taking Over First Place in Division (Video)

Playing “good news, bad news” usually entails a little bit of each one. Unfortunately for the Bruins, it’s been more of the latter in recent days. With Brad Marchand sidelined after suffering a concussion and Patrice Bergeron already out of the lineup with one of his own, the Bruins are certainly looking for some good news. Hopefully, they can find that against the Islanders...

Brad Marchand Leaves Game After Taking Viscious Elbow to Head From Anton Volchenkov

There’s no other way to describe what Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov did to Brad Marchand on Wednesday night than to say it was downright dirty. Volchenkov dropped Marchand with a high elbow to the head 15:11 into the second period of the Devils-Bruins game in New Jersey on Wednesday night. The hit left Marchand a little woozy, and the Bruins forward eventually fell to the...

Patrice Bergeron Returns to Practice, Claude Julien Says He Will Travel With Team to Carolina (Video)

On the tail end of playing three games in four days, the Bruins could use a spark, and they may have gotten just that in practice on Friday. After suffering a mild concussion on March 31, Patrice Bergeron returned to the ice for the Bruins’ optional skate. His play has been desperately missed by the B’s, and his teammates were thrilled to have him back – even if he isn’t...

Anton Volchenkov's dirty elbow on Brad Marchand

This is a dirty, bush-league hit and it’s a violation of the NHL’s rule 48. The Head is targeted; it’s pretty cut and dried. I am going to be very surprised and disappointed if Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov isn’t given a 3-4 game suspension for this dirty and unnecessary hit on Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand. Seriously, there is no defending this hit. I don’t...

How Did I Miss The 2013 International Pillow Fight Day In Boston?

A.B. How did I miss an opportunity to go to a park in Boston and wail on random Bostonian hipsters with a pillow? This is the type of event that dreams are made of. I thought I was better than this, I thought I was up on current events. At the very least, I thought my subscription to Bashing Hipsters Weekly would have mentioned this at least once. Now I have to wait another 363 days...
