(Photo by Jared Wickerham/Getty Images)   BOSTON—The Boston Bruins have announced the signing of forward Patrice Bergeron to an eight-year contract extension through the 2021-22 campaign. He will make $6,500,000 per year. The Stanley Cup Finals loss to the Chicago Blackhawks marked the end of what had been a very stellar year for Bergeron. In 42 regular season games, he tallied 10 goals (tied for fourth on the team in that category) and 22 assists for 32 points (tied for third on the team). He also was stellar in the faceoff circle, winning 62.1 % of the draws he took. In the playoffs, he was very dependable as well tallying nine goals (tied for first on the team and second in the NHL) and six assists for 15 points which put him third on the team and fifth in the NHL in that regard.
