The start of the 2013-14 NHL season begins on October 3. Teams’ rosters are finalized and energized fans fill the streets, bars, and arenas cheering for their favorite team – hoping they will be playing in the playoffs. Do the Boston Bruins have another shot at the Stanley Cup this season? I believe so. Jordan Caron (Photo: Caryn Switaj/Bruins Blog) The preseason did not only bring many victories, but also important and positive takeaways going to the regular season. The completed roster demonstrates a blend of hard-hitting, swift skating, puck handling, and finesse skaters. The 23-man team will provide the Bruins with another opportunity at the Cup. The offense is lead by assistant captain Patrice Bergeron followed with 11 strong forwards playing on the four lines, Milan Lucic, Loui Eriksson, Gregory Campbell, Jarome Iginla, Chris Kelly, David Krejci, Brad Marchand, Daniel Paille, Reilly Smith, Carl Soderberg, and Shawn Thornton, while Jordan Caron sits as the 13th forward lineless. Veterans Dennis Seidenberg, captain Zdeno Chara, Adam McQuaid, and Johnny Boychuk, and Matt Bartkowski, Dougie Hamilton, Torey Krug, and Kevan Miller will man the defense in front of goaltender Tuukka Rask and his new backup Chad Johnson. The dynamic duo of Chara and Seidenberg has produced countless goals in past seasons, and recently in this year’s preseason. In the final win of the preseason over the Winnipeg Jets, the two tallied four points combined in the 5-0 win. Follow isportsweb on twitter New forwards, Jordan Caron and Reilly Smith have demonstrated the correct way to play in a spoked-B jersey. The two have collected many points while competing in the preseason, earning their spot on the roster. With the regular season quickly approaching, the Bruins are looking strong and healthy for another successful season. The only thing standing in their way is injuries, as Carl Soderberg and David Krejci have been placed under “day-to-day.” Regardless, the rest of the squad looks even better than last year, so another Cup run is definitely possible.
