from Joe Haggerty of CSNNE, Those that expected a B’s ownership group and management team to express a disappointment after a seven-game loss to the Washington Capitals – and the team’s first opening round playoff exit in four seasons – got exactly what they were looking for. Bruins ownership/management liaison Charlie Jacobs used the term “disappointing” in his first sentence to the assembled media at Legends Restaurant at TD Garden, and the man signing the checks didn’t sound much happier. Capitals player's dogs destroy house

If it wasn't bad enough for Karl Alzner to lose a triple overtime heartbreaker to the Rangers, he arrived at home only to discover what his dogs had been up to.

Karl Alzner's Dogs Take Out Frustration of Triple-OT Loss on Capitals Defenseman's Apartment (Photo)

Karl Alzner and the Capitals suffered a tough loss on Wednesday night after falling to the New York Rangers in three -- yes, three -- overtimes. But the worst of it for Alzner may have been still to come, when he arrived home to find his apartment in ruin. Alzner's two dogs had apparently been unable to contain their excitement during the game and, left to their own devices for...

Ovechkin needs to lead from the front

Lost in all the talk about Capitals star winger Alexander Ovechkin's diminished ice time is the fact that the 3rd and 4th lines are shutting down the opponent's top lines while scoring critical goals themselves. While this is terrific news, the Caps need their Captain and best player to lead from the front. Thus far Ovechkin has said all the media friendly things like "...

Ovechkin on lack of ice time: ‘Sometimes you just have to put eye in your butt…’

A lot of time has been spent in D.C. (and the NHL world at-large) debating and speculating — all the while engaged in perhaps some hand-wringing and teeth-gnashing (who knows?) regarding the precipitous drop in ice time of the Washington Capitals’ shrinking violet of a Russian superstar, Alexander Ovechkin. Down a game to the New [...]

Washington Capitals steal home ice advantage — and then lose it

The Capitals defeated the Boston Bruins in seven games in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals with every one of the seven games being won by a single goal and four of them requiring overtime.  Why would you expect the conference semifinals to be any different?  The answer is that you wouldn’t, and — so far — these games haven’t been. The New York Rangers won the first...

Poor guy. After Karl Alzner of the New York Rangers had just played in a marathon game against the Washington Capitals and lost in the 3rd overtime, all he wanted to do was go home and fall asleep.
