Minnesota Wild forward Pierre-Marc Bouchard has become the first regular season victim of a suspension. Bouchard has been shanabanned two games for high-sticking Jackets winger Matt Calvert Saturday night. At 18:54 of the second period, Calvert gave Bouchard a small shove before the face-off and Bouchard retaliated by high sticking him in the face. Bouchard insisted that he was not targeting Calvert's head and was just trying to give him a small slash to the hand. Because of his reckless play and his lousy aim, he has been punished.

"Pierre-Marc Bouchard is one of the most sportsmanlike and gentlemanly players in the game today," said Bouchard's agent Allan Walsh. "The notion that Pierre-Marc Bouchard intentionally swung his stick into the face of an opponent is patently absurd.

"He's just not that kind of player."
