COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Nashville Predators dramatic come-from-behind win featured Francis Bouillon’s first fight since returning from a concussion sustained last January in Chicago.

At 16:04 of the first period, Bouillon was asked to fight by Blue Jackets tough guy Derek Dorsett. Leading the team with 71 penalty minutes, Dorsett easily won the bout.

After being held out of the lineup for more than half a season with a concussion, seeing the Predators defenseman drop the gloves was surprising.

“He was kind of pissed because I hit him in the corner,” Bouillon said when asked what prompted the fight. The 5’8 defenseman said he wasn’t worried about the fight given his past concussion. “It is part of the game. You don’t have time to think about it. When you go, you go. They had the lead 1-0 and it was time for a change. That’s why I didn’t refuse him when he asked me to go,” he said.

Predators forward Mike Fisher says the fight gave the team some momentum. “That was a good scrap. He stepped up. Before that, we were kind of flat. After that, we got it going in the second. It was good to see.”

Head Coach Barry Trotz added “That’s why you love Frankie Bouillon. Sometimes he doesn’t think about maybe I shouldn’t fight, I had a concussion. He just plays the game as a hockey player. He got called out by Dorsett and he didn’t back down.”
