Almost 1 1/2 hours ago reports surfaced Prust was getting suspended for one game. As of this moment, still nothing official from Brendan Shanahan but I am sure the reports are accurate. If the video becomes available, I will post it when I return from a little neighborhood party.

Options to replace Prust tonight

Whether you agree with the suspension or not, Brandon Prust will not be playing in tonight’s Game 4 against the Devils. With the opportunity to build a two game lead, the Rangers will be without one of their warriors and top penalty killers. It’s a blow, but not a blow that can’t be overcome. Unlike with Carl Hagelin, the Rangers have a few options readily available to replace...

Prust's hit ignites drama

The Eastern Conference Final began last Monday night. The war of words commenced Sunday. John Tortorella ripped Devils coach Pete DeBoer's "head-hunting, plain and simple" comment about Brandon Prust's elbow to the back of Anton Volchenkov's head in the second period of the New York Rangers' 3-0 win in Game 3 at the Prudential Center Saturday afternoon...

Prust to Have Disciplinary Hearing with League

The National Hockey League, as advised by VP of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan, will be conducting a disciplinary hearing with New York Rangers forward Brandon Prust this morning. That hearing will be in response to Prust's elbow to the back of the head of New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov, which went unnoticed by the officials early in the second period of Saturday...

Brandon Prust Receives 1 Game Suspension

According to Tom Gulitti (Devils beat writer), Brandon Prust has received a 1 game suspension for his hit on Anton Volchenkov during yesterday’s game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals. Once Shanaban posts his suspension video explaining his reasoning, we will be sure to link it here. To be honest, I expected a one game suspension out of this, so I am not really surprised. I guess...

Rangers Brandon Prust Suspended for Game 4

New York Rangers left-winger Brandon Prust has been suspended by the NHL for elbowing Anton Volchenkov in the head in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the New Jersey Devils. Brandon Shanahan the league's Vice President of Player Safety and Hockey Operations does not take hits to the head lightly so his decision to suspend Prust was not surprising. This is Prust...

Prust to Have Hearing Tomorrow

From NHL.com: New York Rangers forward Brandon Prust will have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety on Sunday morning after connecting with the head of Anton Volchenkov during a 3-0 win against the New Jersey Devils in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday. Volchenkov was carrying the puck along the boards and chipped it out of the zone when Prust...

Prust suspended for Game 4

The New York Rangers forward Bandon Prust is going to be suspended for his elbow on Anton Volchenkov during yesterday's game. I predicted that this play would warrant a suspension from the National Hockey League Department of Player Safety yesterday. The NHL has set a precedence if you hit someone where the head is the principle point of contact you will be suspended, it no longer...

Rangers' Prust gets 1-game suspension

Rangers forward Brandon Prust has been suspended for one game by the NHL for his elbow to the head of New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov during New York's win in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals.

(Video) Brandon Prust Elbows Anton Volchenkov

How many games do you think that Rangers forward Brandon Prust be suspended for this dirty elbow on New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov? There was no penalty called on the play but from vantage point on the coach, this appears to be a chicken wing elbow by Prust on Volchenkov and a violation of rule 48 - as I interpret this from reading the rules - to quote Brendan...

Dubinsky Would Play for Suspended Prust

Larry Brooks at the New York Post reports that if Brandon Dubinsky (ankle) is ready, he would replace the suspended Brandon Prust in the line-up for tonight's Game 4 in Newark. However, Brooks adds that he hasn't talked to Rangers trainer Jim Ramsey, so he's not sure if Dubinsky is healthy enough to play....great, thanks Larry. If Michael Sauer is ready (which he's...

Tortorella Responds To The “Headhunter” Quote From DeBoer

from Dave Lozo of NHL.com, On Saturday, Devils coach Peter DeBoer referred to the Rangers’ Brandon Prust as a “headhunter” after his blow to the back of the head of defenseman Anton Volchenkov. On Sunday, Rangers coach John Tortorella responded to that comment by defending Prust and accusing the Devils of embellishing calls and setting illegal picks during their power plays...

Torts/DeBoer Rivalry Within the Rivalry

It obviously all started with the line brawl game in March, but the hatred between John Tortorella and Pete DeBoer really started percolating this weekend after the Devils coach said Brandon Prust was a 'headhunter' to which the Rangers General responded by calling out the Devils for diving to get calls. And it all finally came to a head last night in the third period......

A look at the top Rangers playoff performers so far

The Rangers are getting by this postseason with defense and goaltending. They certainly are not scoring in droves, but they are doing enough of the right things to get the job done. As we are not fans of the plus/minus statistic here at BSB, it’s time we dive into some of the more advanced metrics we use to analyze performance: Qualcomp, RCorsi, and offensive zone start percentage...

Early Morning Line

The John Tortorella thing just keeps getting better. Before Game 4 - and after he embarrassed himself, his organization and the league with his press-conference performances - Lord Torts suddenly found a use for the media when his player, Brandon Prust, was facing a suspension Just like that, The Great Man turned into Winston Churchill. He talked about the Devils’ many crimes...
