Washington Capitals' winger Donald Brashear won't be a game 7 participant, so sayeth the NHL's Enforcement Czar, Colin Campbell. Brashear this afternoon was suspended by the league for six games for his late hit at center ice Sunday on Ranger's center Blair Betts. Betts suffered a broken orbital bone from the hit.
"Brashear delivered a shoulder hit to an unsuspecting player," NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell said. "It is also my opinion that the hit was delivered late and targeted the head of his opponent, causing significant injury."
Brash's hit on Betts looks bad when you look at it in slow motion; less so in real time. And in real time, it sure seems difficult to posit that Brash went head-hunting. Body hurting, yes, head-hunting, I'm not so sure of. So once again a Washington Capitals' forward has, in excessive fashion, been made an example of by the league in the postseaso...
