The Tampa Bay Lightning announced today center and captain Vincent Lecavalier is out indefinitely with a “lower body injury.” The team expects him to be placed on injured reserve today. Lecavalier’s lower body injury is said to be the knee he hurt during Tuesday night’s win against the Florida Panthers. Vinny has seven goals, 15 assists, and 22 points this season for the Bolts. The loss will hurt Tampa Bay as they hoped to make a push to the playoffs or a division lead. The move to I.R. will have him out at least seven days. Lightning win despite only 13 shots

The Tampa Bay Lightning somehow found a way to win while barely shooting the puck. Steven Stamkos is currently outperforming his 60-goal campaign

Steven Stamkos had a 2011-12 season for the record books, leading the league with 60 goals in 82 games. Remarkably, he finished 10 goals ahead of the second-best scorer, Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin. How has Stamkos followed up his extremely impressive 60-goal effort? By scoring at a higher rate in 2013, of course.  Stamkos recently scored his 20th goal of the year...

The Tampa Bay Lightning lose another frustrating game due to being outshot Thursday night against the Islanders, 2-0.  After the game, coach Guy Boucher addressed the lack of shooting: It’s the scoring chances and they’re the same. We don’t want to shoot when it’s not time. Seventeen chances we passed on and I don’t accept that. That can create rebounds, chaos, and that’s...

Lindback bests friend Markstrom in showdown

SUNRISE, Fla. This was the game Anders Lindback and Jacob Markstrom mimicked during their street hockey games in Sweden. And like the typical contest held in front of their childhood homes, someone walked away with bragging rights. Tuesday night was Lindback's turn, only the stakes were higher, as he bested Markstrom in their first meeting on NHL ice. Lindback registered...
