According to a report from James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail, the Predators have indeed bought out defenseman Brett Lebda, who was acquired from Toronto last month. The report was confirmed by Josh Cooper of The Tennessean. Lebda, who cleared waivers over the weekend, becomes the second Predator bought out this summer; the first was J.P. Dumont. It was unknown as to whether the Preds were able to buy out Lebda, but they have done just that in the second buyout window, which is related to arbitration. This series of events with Lebda makes it even more clear that the trade that sent Cody Franson and Matthew Lombardi to Toronto was clearly a salary dump with the future in mind.Lebda was set to make $1.45 million this season. The Preds will save just under $1 million by buying him out.
