Brian Elliott Named to the 2012 NHL All-Star Game

ST. LOUIS St. Louis Blues goaltender, Brian Elliott, has been named to the 2012 NHL All-Star Game for the first time in his career, the National Hockey League announced today. This years festivities will take place at Scotiabank Place, home of the Ottawa Senators, from January 26-29. The SuperSkills will begin at 6 p.m. CST on Saturday, January 28 and the 2012 NHL All-Star Game will start at 3 p.m. CST on Sunday, January 29. Brian has been a key player for this team and he deserves this honor, said Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong. Hes a true professional and the St. Louis Blues are proud to have him represent the organization at this years All-Star Game. Elliott, 26, is currently in his fifth NHL season and first with the Blues. The 63, 204-pound goaltender has posted a 15-5-0 record while he ranks second in the NHL with a 1.62 goals against average, .940 save percentage and a career high tying five shutouts. In addition, Elliott has allowed the fewest goals (33) and suffered the fewest losses among goaltenders with at least 20 starts as well as posted the leagues top home record going 9-1-0 at Scottrade Center. On October 26, 2011 at Vancouver, he became the first Blues goaltender in club history to earn wins in his first four starts of a single season. The Newmarket, Ontario native was originally signed by the Blues as a free agent on July 1, 2011. The NHL All-Star Player Fantasy Draft will take place January 26 at 7.p.m. CST. A coin toss will decide first pick with the team captains, joined by their two alternate captains, alternately drafting the 36 remaining All-Stars through 18 rounds. Each team will consist of three goalies, six defensemen and 12 forwards. For sake of fairness in the draft, the captain and alternate captains for each team will consist of two forwards and one defenseman. Also, to ensure that the final draft picks are true selections and not simply predetermined due to position requirements, each teams three goalies must be picked by the end of Round 10 and each teams six defensemen must be picked by the conclusion of Round 15.
