Found July 02, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
via John Vogle of Sabres Edge, There's about a 1 in 8 chance those Daniel Briere jerseys stuffed in the closets of Sabres fans will come back in style. The free agent center, who was bought out by the Philadelphia Flyers, tells The Buffalo News he's had contract chats with Buffalo. "We are talking to about eight teams," Briere said in a text. "Sabres one of them." The 35-year-old had six goals and 16 points in 34 games last season. He was set to have a salary cap hit of $6.5 million for the next two seasons, but the Flyers used a compliance buyout and made him a free agent.

Daniel Briere lands with the Montreal Canadiens

Veteran scorer Daniel Briere didn’t want to leave Philadelphia. But he found a happy ending after his compliance buyout from the Flyers on the last two years of his eight-year, $52 million contract. He agreed to a two-year, $8 million deal with the Montreal Canadiens. That is a nice payout for a 35-year-old forward who will also draw checks from Philadelphia for not playing there...

According to Jessica Rusnak and TSN 690 in Montreal, the Canadiens have signed Daniel Briere to a 2 year, $8 million contract.    NOTE: I'm not seeing this anywhere else, but they are discussing it as I type as being done. I guess we'll know tomorrow when signings become official.

Kevin Freiheit: Buffalo not over #48...are you?

Buffalo interested in Briere? We've talked about, and I'm going to bring it up again because I think there's a lot of different opinions going on about it. Darcy Regier stated today that he has contacted Daniel Briere's agent. Now, that may not mean much at all, but it shows that the Sabres do have some interest in the former captain. So, they will talk to...

Daniel Briere Chooses Montreal, Signs Two Year Deal by   TheHockeyHouse

The Montreal Canadiens have signed Daniel Briere to a two year, $8 Million deal. It was widely speculated that Brière would return to his home province and play for the Montreal Canadiens, but he instead signed with the Philadelphia Flyers, who finished the previous season as the worst team in the NHL, to an eight-year, $52 million contract with a no-trade clause. The Flyers [...]

Habs and Briere

I received a note today asking about Daniel Briere. Should they/shouldn't they? My quick retort, as it is far too nice out to spend paragraphs waxing on this: Briere is still a very, very useful player, when healthy. He'd immediately improve the PP, and be a solid leader in the dressing room. So sure, he may be a Vinny consolation prize, but I say what the heck. If Briere...

Kevin Freiheit: Center of attention

Follow me on Twitter @KevinSHC Happy 4th of July, everyone!  It's sounding more and more like Daniel Briere is heading to Montreal, and that's my bet as to where he will end up. Of course, nothing is official, but I could definitely see him going to the Canadiens. Since it's safe to say that Briere isn't coming to Buffalo, is it worth it for the...

Boston Bruins: Could Daniel Briere be the answer?

Boston is a beautiful place to live, and quite frankly one of the best places to live in the entire country. With sports, many consider Boston to be title town because you have the Patriots, Bruins, and the Celtics all being dominate teams in their sport. If this is the case, then why do some veteran players decide to play for other teams, instead of wanting to come to “Title Town...

Kevin Freiheit: Top 5 former Sabres who could return to Buffalo

With free agency tomorrow, I went through the list of soon-to-be free agents and highlighted all of the former Sabres. Out of those highlighted, I wanted to figure out which ones have the best chance of returning to blue and gold. I've excluded Daniel Briere from the list. Darcy Regier stated that the team will not be looking to make a big splash in free agency. "The...

Jan Levine: Vinny a Flyer, Do Rangers Look Worse 4 Keeping Richards? Kristo/Thomas Deal

The Flyers, after buying out Daniel Briere and Ilya Bryzgalov, have poured those savings into signing Vincent Lecavalier to a five-year, $23.5 deal with a reported no-moment clause. When Lecavalier was bought out by Tampa, initial speculation was that the Rangers would be one of the team's interested. That possibility went out the window when the Rangers decided to not buy out...

Always a bridesmaid…

So the Habs came up short on Vinny. The sweepstakes are over. Now, news that they are after Daniel Briere, who many see as a consolation prize. My prediction? He doesn't sign in Montreal either. Jagr? Nope. Why? Because for Montreal, the old adage is true: always a bridesmaid, never a bride... ...except if you count the acquisition of Christian Thomas from the Rangers earlier...
