Hurricanes @ Penguins - Game-1: Penguins Win 3-2
The Penguins are another step closer to their second straight Stanley Cup appearance following a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes kept it close, scoring a power-play goal with under 2-minutes remaining, but it wouldn't be enough.
- Pittsburgh took a 2-0 lead in the first period, with goals from Miroslav Satan and Evgeni Malkin, jut 1:24 apart.
- Chad LaRose scored the only goal of the second period, putting Carolina on the board, and cutting the Penguins lead in half.
- Halfway into the third period, Philippe Boucher gave the Penguins a 3-1 on a power-play goal.
- With 1:26 left, Joe Corvo scored a power-play goal for Carolina, but the Penguins would hold on to their 3-2 lead to take game-1.
The Penguins and Red Wings are both off to a 1-0 series lead, possibly heading to a Stanley Cup re-match. Don't count Carolina out, however, as they have a knack for finding wins.
