Anaheim Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau is imploring his team to get back to defensive basics. His team lost consecutive games to the Phoenix Coyotes in 5-4 shootouts. Boudreau played each of his goaltenders and got the same result. This left him most displeased.“I was hoping it wasn’t a repeat,” Boudreau told reporters during his postgame briefing. “I’m more upset to give up … the last five games we’ve given up a four, four and five goals against. You can’t just give that up and expect to win this game. It’s not going to happen.“Even though we do a lot of preaching about defense, we’re going to have to get back to basics.”This slippage might bode well for rangy defenseman Bryan Allen, who is still trying to lock down his regular spot in the lineup. He sat out the last two games.“We’re putting out guys that we know should be able to play and should be able to defend,” Boudreau said. “Including last game, that’s four times, we take the lead and they scored within five minutes. Ducks face Coyotes for second straight time

PHOENIX In nearly four decades around professional hockey, Bruce Boudreau has seen a lot of strange things. But the coach can't remember seeing a team play consecutive games on the road in the same city during the regular season, something his division-leading Ducks will do Monday night when they meet the Phoenix Coyotes for the second time in three nights in Arizona. "...

Cam Fowler Could Have Been A Contenda....

I recently picked up my third Cam Fowler autograph for nothing more than a fistful of George Washingtons. The seller offered combined shipping so I snagged a couple of other hits on the cheap. One is earmarked for a particular repeat trade partner and the other will eventually find itself in someone else's collecting hands.Numbered 46/50, I absolutely LOVE the design of this...

Steve Palumbo: Why Corey? Why?

There appears to be a growing belief that Anaheim Ducks star winger Corey Perry wants to test the free-agent market this summer and that even if he wanted to stay Anaheim simply couldn't afford to keep both he and captain Ryan Getzlaf. It is believed the Ducks and Getzlaf are closing in on an extension while no progress is being made with Perry. It seems the 27-year-old bachelor...

Coyotes aim to finish sweep of Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks and Phoenix Coyotes played two eerily similar games against each other this week before the action shifts to California. The Coyotes posted two shootout wins over the Ducks, who try to bounce back and extend their eight-game home win streak when these teams meet again Wednesday night. This contest caps three straight between the Pacific Division rivals, who had...

Andrew Vermette, Shane Doan, Matt Stone and Keith Yandle scored for the Coyotes in regulation. Phoenix also beat the Pacific Division-leading Ducks 5-4 in a shootout Saturday night...

Steve Palumbo: Ducks Game Day: Trying to Avoid the Sweep

COYOTES (11-8-3) at DUCKS (15-3-3) The Anaheim Ducks are back home to play the third and final game of this mid season scheduling anomaly with the Coyotes. Phoenix won both of the games at Jobing.com Arena in 5-4 shootouts. The previous two contests have been entertaining to say the very least. Both teams have combined to score 16 goals, eight apiece, and it's hard to imagine...

Ducks Lose Two in a Row in Shootout with Coyotes

The Ducks will be happy to get the Phoenix Coyotes out of their system.  Monday night's 5-4 shootout loss looked like a repeat of Saturday's loss.  Only the goal scorers and netminder changed.  Jonas Hiller got the nod in net for Anaheim and did not fare any better than Viktor Fasth did two nights before.  Mike Smith got the same results, though, helping his team...
