Long Island, New York. The Bruins wrapped up their 5 game road trip with a 4-1 win over the New York Islanders.  Adam McQuaid opened the scoreboard with one of his own off of a slap shot assisted by Tyler Seguin. Brad Marchand struck again after an Andrew Ference shot got redirected to him. David Krejci finished a spectacular play, and Gregory Campbell added an empty netter. Goal tender Tuukka Rask was huge on a number of occasions, especially right after the Bruins first strike, stuffing Islanders' Michael Grabner's breakaway with a beautiful pad save, and finished the contest with 36 saves.  For the Islanders, Casey Cizikias scored the lone goal after Patrice Bergeron lost the offensive zone face off, the Islanders brought the puck into the Bruins zone as Josh Bailey streaked to the net. Tuukka went down thinking Bailey would fire, but he dished the puck off to Cizikias who lofted it over the vulnerable Rask.   Highlight of the night was on the third goal. Zdeno Char...

Savard’s sacrifice: how the Bruins center’s fate changed the league

May 10, 2010, roughly 10PM. It was an electrifying moment. Overtime. Marc Savard, back on the ice for the first time in two months, skating left to right across the ice, palms up, fists clenched between his knees with a giant smile across his face.

David Krejci Nets Second-Period Goal After String of Pinpoint Passes (Video)

Though David Krejci was the one that put the puck in the net, every skater played a part in the Bruins’ third goal Tuesday night. Zdeno Chara controlled the puck in the Bruins zone before sending a pass to Nathan Horton streaking down the right side. Horton’s centering pass to Milan Lucic drew in both Islanders defensemen, leaving Krejci wide open for the one-timer. It was a...

Brad Marchand is on pace for 50+ goals (if it was an 82 game season)

So, after Marchand put another one in the back on the net last night, it got me to thinking, if this was going to be an 82 game season, how many goals would Marchand be on pace for? After doing the math, it comes out to 51, or 55 goals depending on if you count the game he didn't play or not. Either way, 50+ flipping goals? If you had told me last year that Marchand would be...

Claude Julien Takes No Issues With Milan Lucic’s Penalties in Win Over Panthers

The Bruins were left shorthanded for four minutes on Sunday, and they lost one of their best players for an additional 10 minutes as well, but head coach Claude Julien had no problem with the situation. Having the league’s top-ranked penalty kill may have something to do with that, though. Milan Lucic was given a double-minor Sunday for retaliating against what he thought was a...

Cam Neely Says Bruins Would ‘Love’ Opportunity to Play Outdoor Game at Gillette Stadium

The NHL sounds like its ready to add even more outdoor games, and the Bruins are reportedly looking to get in on the action. TheFourthPeriod.com reported earlier this week that the NHL is looking to hold as many as four outdoor games in 2014, starting with the Winter Classic on Jan. 1 between Detroit and Toronto. The report also indicated that outdoor games could be hosted at Yankee...

Zdeno Chara’s Spin-O-Rama Goal Continues to Astound Days Later (Video)

The highlight of the weekend for Bruins fans was certainly big man Zdeno Chara‘s spinning backhand goal — highlights of which have since swept across the internet. It’s never too early to look back on such an impressive display, and Tuesday’s Crown Royal Maple Smooth Finish did just that. Check it out in the video above.

Bruins Top Isles For Fourth Straight Win

Milan Lucic (center) celebrates with linemates David Krejci (46) and Nathan Horton (18) as Johnny Boychuck (55) looks on following an insurance goal from Krejci in the Bruins’ 4-1 win over the Islanders on Tuesday. For the second time on this young season, the Bruins put up four goals on their way to beating the struggling Islanders in what almost had the feel of a home game with...

Bruins Extend Winning Streak To Four With Win In Uniondale

Bruins 4, Islanders 1 The Bruins and Islanders met for the first time this season on Tuesday night and the Isles, like most of the teams the B’s have faced off against in the past few weeks, headed into the matchup struggling to put it all together as a team. While the Bruins entered Tuesday with an 11-2-2 start, the Islanders were sitting in the basement of the Atlantic Division...

Is the Price Right? Looking at Boston's Cost/Point Ratio

For last night's Days of Y'Orr Pregame Show, I had a feature all set up where we looked at how much each Bruins cost per point scored, with cha-ching sound effects and everything, and then my Internet went and **** the bed. We were able to finish the DOYLive show but I had to cut the feature for time sake. But I didn't want the graphics to go to waste. ...

Tuesdays With Stoosh - 2.26.2013

Soon. #CorvoFace That…that’s Mark Eaton’s music! OK, yes, we know…the return of Mark Eaton to Pittsburgh is little more than a depth signing. At 35 years of age, Eaton is certainly no longer the top-four caliber defenseman who rode shotgun when Shero moved from Nashville to Pittsburgh to take over the Pens in 2006 (h/t to @demangone, who suggested he may have been...

PREVIEW 16: Boston Bruins at New York Islanders - Pile on the Isles of Misfit Management

Man, the Bruins really gave it to state of Florida didn't they? Just absolutely took that state and humped it into submission, like watching a drunk dog trying to hump a Japanese sex doll. Just really dug in there and just buried their puck into Florida's netting. Forget for a minute that the Bruins basically played on a melting glacier and think about seeing 12 of...

Senators-Bruins Preview

The Boston Bruins have the best winning percentage in the Eastern Conference, but what the Ottawa Senators are doing may be even more impressive given their injury-decimated roster. Both teams put winning streaks on the line as these Northeast Division rivals meet for the first time this season Thursday night in Boston. The Bruins (12-2-2) are fully healthy and playing like it...

Game 17 Scoring Chances: Hurricanes at Islanders

Last night's 4-2 win over the Islanders was an ugly win for the Hurricanes, so it probably won't surprise you to hear that they were outchanced at even strength. The Canes have made somewhat of a habit of pulling out wins like this as last night was only the fifth time this season they were outchanced and the third time they won a game where that happened. I'm not sure...
