PLAYERS: Lane Macdermid
TEAMS: Boston Bruins
Upon arriving in Boston, Lane MacDermid stepped up his game in the wake of some injuries and immediately gained the respect of his Bruins teammates. But the 22-year-old will head back down to Providence for the time being. General manager Peter Chiarelli announced on Tuesday that the club has assigned MacDermid to its AHL affiliate in Providence. MacDermid was recalled on an emergency basis by the Bruins on March 3, and played in five games with Boston. In those five contests, the gritty forward averaged 8:54 of ice time per game, while showing a willingness to play physical and disciplined...

Lane MacDermid Making Impact With Physical Play, Reliable Approach in First Recall to Bruins

The Bruins have been ravaged by injuries of late, with the shuttle from Providence working overtime to bring up enough new bodies to fill all the voids created. The results produced by those replacements have been mixed, but at least one newcomer has fit in seamlessly into his role with the big club. Forward Lane MacDermid made an immediate impact when he dropped the mitts on his...

Bruins Call Up Trent Whitfield. I'm Dead Serious, Again

The Bruins have called up Trent Whitfield from Providence to be used on an emergency basis. This could be because Patrice Bergeron and Max Suave left the Bruins game against the Penguins on Sunday. Or it's because the Bruins and AMC are partnering to promote The Walking Dead and figured that this is the perfect time to do it. Also, Haggs dropped this lovely tweet on our asses...

Marty Turco to Get First Start with Bruins, Daniel Paille Returns, Patrice Bergeron, Adam McQuaid Game-Time Decisions Against Lightning

Marty Turco was impressive enough in relief to earn his first start as a Bruin. Turco put in two solid periods of work on Sunday after replacing Tim Thomas against the Penguins, and will get a chance to play a full game Tuesday night when the Bruins take on the Lightning. "I think it's time for him to come in there and help us out," Bruins coach Claude Julien told reporters...

Tuukka Rask Thinks Bruins' Struggles Are Mental, Stresses Importance of Maintaining 'Battle Level' (Video)

This season has been inexplicable for the Bruins. After a Stanley Cup hangover, the B's looked like the best team in hockey for a while, only to then fall back down to earth over the last two months. Goaltender Tuukka Rask, who is sidelined with an abdominal/groin strain, said that he thinks Boston's recent woes have been more mental than anything. He thinks that the B'...

Jack Edwards Mailbag: Slumping Bruins Can't Give Up Physical Aspect of Game As They Search for Answers

The Bruins are struggling mightily right now, and things didn't get much better on Tuesday night against Tampa Bay. The Lightning pasted both Marty Turco and Tim Thomas -- and then Turco again -- en route to a 6-1 victory. The B's are banged-up and struggling to find their way, and the result looks to be a lack of confidence. NESN's Jack Edwards discusses that and more...

Bruins Searching for Answers After Dropping Third Straight With Lopsided Loss in Tampa

The Bruins have been flirting with disaster for the last couple months, and on Tuesday night in Tampa, everything finally fell apart. Now the Bruins just have to hope they've hit bottom with their 6-1 loss to the Lightning, and that they can use this defeat as motivation to finally turn their season back around. "It's disappointing to say the least," Bruins coach...

Tuukka Rask to Make Live Appearance on 'Bruins Face-Off Live' Tuesday Night at 7 p.m. on NESN

When Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask went down with an injury during a March 3 game against the Islanders, it didn't look good. There were plenty of B's fans who feared the young goalie's season would be done, but there's still hope he'll be able to return for the postseason. Rask will be a guest of Dale Arnold and Mark Mowers on Tuesday night, as he'll make...

Send Billy Jaffe, Mark Mowers, Barry Pederson and Craig Janney Questions to Be Answered on 'The Instigators'

Just when the Bruins seemed to have finally turned a corner and were prepared to assert themselves as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, they show off some of their worst hockey of the year. A pair of back-to-back wins in Toronto and then at home over Buffalo seemed to have Claude Julien and the B's back to their early season success. But a visit from Washington...

Bruins Rolled In Tampa

The Bruins had absolutely nothing last night and were rolled by the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-1 in down in Florida. Bruins shockingly bad - Stephen Harris has the Bruins saying the right things before the game and still stinking the place up. Seriously, it looks like the Bruins are going to lose the division - DJ Bean says that it sure looks like Ottawa will overtake the Bruins...

Bruins Live Blog: B's Look to End Three-Game Skid, Close Out Road Trip With Win Over Panthers in Florida

8 a.m. ET: The Bruins hope they won't be revisiting the winter of 2010. The Panthers would like nothing better. Boston comes into Thursday's clash in Florida having lost three straight games. They haven't dropped four in a row since a 10-game winless streak back in Jan.-Feb. 2010 when they went 0-6-4, including a stretch of five straight regulation losses. The Panthers...

Malkin not disciplined

Another questionable hit on a Boston Bruins by a Pittsburgh Penguin and another Penguin escapes punishment by the NHL. So basically, don't expect a player to get suspended if they hit a Boston Bruin with a questionable hit. I could see how Boston Bruins fans might question the NHL and their judgement. Also, I think that Brendan Shanahan is basically a fraud and no better...

Go Behind the Scenes With Jack Edwards, Andy Brickley (Photos)

Ever wonder what it's like to be "high above ice level" with Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley? Now's your chance to see what it's like to be the voice of the Boston Bruins. Jack and Brick, who started calling B's games together back in 2005, have quite the set up at the TD Garden, as seen in the photo gallery below. Click here to go behind the scenes with...

Bruins-Panthers Preview

The Boston Bruins' recent skid has allowed the Florida Panthers to gain ground in the race for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. If the Bruins' recent efforts in this series are any indication, however, a visit to BankAtlantic Center could be just what they need. Looking to avoid a fourth consecutive regulation loss for the first time in more than two years, Boston...
