San Jose Sharks
It wasn't quite the no-doubt victory the Bruins would have preferred leading into tomorrow night's Garden visit by the mighty San Jose Sharks but at least the B's secured the two points they needed against the lowly Sabres — improving to 4-0-0 on the road with a one-sided 5-2 victory.
In his first start as a Bruin goalie Chad Johnson didn't face a great many quality chances but did his job well enough to get the win.
Milan Lucic scored the B's first two goals (No. 4 & 5) both assisted by Jarome Iginla. Dougie Hamilton (2) added a second-period score. The Sabres scored twice in the second — a PPG by Cody Hodgson and an in-deep backhander by rookie D Nikita Zadorov — to make it 3-2.
But with the clubs skating 4-on-4 at 4:04 of the third B's defenseman Tory Krug outmuscled veteran Sabre Drew Stafford to walk out front and send a forehander past Miller making it 4-2.
At 5:49 of the third Buffalo goon John Scott lined up Loui Eriksson an instant after the ...

The Boston Bruins needed all 60 minutes Thursday night to notch a win over the San Jose Sharks. With the game tied at 1-1, David Krejci tipped a point shot from Adam McQuaid through Antti Niemi with 0.8 seconds left in regulation to give the Bruins the 2-1 victory. “We stuck with it,” said Krejci, via the team’s website. “The last goal was a perfect example of not trying...
Boston Bruins forward #12 Jarome Iginla
With the Boston Bruins now seven games into the regular season, we are beginning to get a much clearer picture as to how this season will go for the team. Sure it is early, but there are some players who have struggled throughout the early going to put up the numbers they are accustomed to. The two biggest names that jump out at you are Brad...

It was the most consistent effort the Boston Bruins (5-2-0) have had all season. Twelve different Bruins had a point in the game as Boston defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (5-3-0) on the road 5-0. What might be even more impressive...
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Sabres enforcer John Scott was suspended indefinitely by the NHL on Thursday. And teammate Patrick Kaleta‘s appeal to reduce his 10-game suspension was denied by league commissioner Gary Bettman. Scott was suspended pending a disciplinary hearing for a blindside hit to the head that leveled Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson in Buffalo’s 5-2 loss a...
In a game last night between the Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins, NHL tough guy John Scott landed a questionable hit knocking B’s RW Loui Eriksson into a daze. There will likely be substantial supplementary discipline awarded Scott for the…Read more →The post Sabres’ John Scott injures Bruins’ Eriksson then drops the gloves with McQuaid appeared first on The Hockey Daily.
The Boston Bruins didn’t play their best hockey on Thursday night, but a phenomenal performance from goaltender Tuukka Rask was enough to lift the B’s over the Western Conference-leading San Jose Sharks at TD Garden.
Even though David Krejci scored the winning goal with 0.8 seconds left in regulation and also picked up an assist, the first star of the game was Rask. The Finnish...
from Damien Cox of the Toronto Star,
February 18, 2011, was supposed to be the day that the world changed for the Buffalo Sabres.
That was the day Terry Pegula, an owner with buckets of cash who loves hockey, officially assumed control of the team that the Knox Brothers founded.
No more poverty. No more bankruptcy. No more getting by on the cheap. No more being the feeder...
6’5″, only 18 years of age, Nikita Zadorov of the Buffalo Sabres looked like a giant scoring machine on his first ever NHL goal against the defending Eastern Conference champion, Boston Bruins. The Sabres may not be winning now (1-9-1)…Read more →The post WATCH: Sabres’ Nikita Zadorov score first NHL goal appeared first on The Hockey Daily.
1. 2013-14 NHL suspension count. The season isn’t even a month old and already there have been seven suspensions in the NHL. That is one suspension every three days, on average. As the lyric from the title song from the '70s thriller "The Poseidon Adventure" goes, "there has to be a morning after".
John Scott spoke after the Sabres practiced today.
Sometimes, you have absolutely no business even being in the hockey game, let alone winning it.
In your unofficial memory bank of season-x, itâs found next to âlosing despite peppering a backup for nearly 40 shotsâ, and filed under the âI donât know how, but weâll take itâ category of your clubâs 82-game schedule.
Every team, everywhere...
Last night, Buffalo Sabres pylon, hack, one-dimensional forward, John Scott hit Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson in the head with one of the dirtiest hits I have seen this season. It doesn't appear that the players are learning anything. Scott's teammate Patrick Kaleta is already serving a 10-game suspension for his dirty hit on Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson...
Krejci scored with less than a second to go in regulation to give the San Jose Sharks their first loss in regulation tonight.
2 p.m.: The Bruins just got done as good of a three-game road trip as you can have. The B’s outscored their opponents 13-4 in wins over Florida, Tampa Bay and Buffalo.
But none of those teams tested the Bruins like they’ll be tested Thursday night at TD Garden. The club returns home to find the San Jose Sharks waiting for them. Not only do the Bruins have to complete the second...
Here we go again....1 game tonight...enjoy!
2 UNIT = Boston Bruins @ Buffalo Sabres - BRUINS -1.5 (+180)
(Note: I'm risking 2.00 units to win 3.60 units)
The Bruins enter this game 5-2 on the season and a perfect 3-0 on the road, while the Sabres are just 1-8-1 and 0-5-1 at home. Boston has won 3 of their last 4 games and three straight road games vs Columbus, Florida...
