Claude Julien doesn't pay much attention to compliments or criticism. And he's had plenty of both. Just give him a pair of skates, players to teach and a spot behind the bench and the coach of the Boston Bruins is thrilled. The low-key Julien says that if he could come to work every day and leave the rink without anyone knowing who he was he'd be very happy. But it's tough to be anonymous when you're three wins away from your second Stanley Cup championship in three years. The Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks play Game 3 of the Cup finals on Monday night with the series tied at one game apiece. The Blackhawks won the opener 4-3. The Bruins took the next game 2-1. Both were overtime games in Chicago.

Bruins Earn Split In Game 2 With OT Win

For as much criticism as Coach Claude Julien gets for babying his top line and not changing them at all, he doesn't get nearly enough credit for the more minor changes.  Those minor changes won the game for Boston last night. After total domination by Chicago in the first period, outshooting the Bruins 19-4, Julien shuffled the bottom lines around to try and get something going...

Brad Marchand Accuses Andrew Shaw of Eye Gouging, Calls Blackhawks Winger a ‘Kitty Cat’

Putting Brad Marchand and Andrew Shaw on the ice at the same time creates a powder keg of agitation — one that finally blew up in the closing seconds of Game 3 on Monday. As Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara and Blackhawks winger Bryan Bickell dropped the gloves in front of the Boston net, Marchand and Shaw did the same. The fights did not exactly follow “hockey code,” as a particularly...

Life Is Good In Boston

from Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe, The Blackhawks are supposed to be a great hockey team. They won the Cup three years ago and set an NHL record when they came out of the gate without losing any of their first 24 games in regulation. They recovered from a 3-1 series deficit against Detroit. They overwhelmed the defending Stanley Cup champs from Los Angeles. They went...

Ty Anderson: Finally: Kelly, third line strike in Chicago

Much has been made about the 2013 Boston Bruins and their weird connections and similarities to the Cup-winning Boston squad from two years ago. From rookies to goaltenders, nights of clinching-contests to weather anomalies, it seems as if everything’s lined up just right to make ‘13 seem like ‘11. But if there was one part of the equation that the Black-and-Gold would’ve...

GARTH: Rask Saved The Day

The Boston Bruins learned a cautionary tale on Saturday night in Chicago: Slow starts can kill a team in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Blackhawks marinaded and grilled the Bruins in period one of Game 2. The Bruins looked like they were skating in a men's league game. They committed barrel full of turnovers that lead to high percentage scoring chances. Thankfully, Tuuka Rask...

Tuukka Rask Calls The Ice ************ After Shutting Out Blackhawks

A.B. Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask says the TD Garden ice was ************ on live TV after game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals against the Chicago Blackhawks. But after saving all 28 shots to post his third shutout of the 2013 NHL playoffs, I’m pretty sure he gets a pass. Especially in Boston where we encourage profanity.

Lord Stanley Game Three

Just a few things that caught my eye: Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool Joel Quennville four times? Shame on the organization. Zdeno Chara was in the dressing room with a skate issue for at least four shifts and Quennville failed to get Jonathan Toews on the ice for any of them. How does that happen with today's technology? Tuukka...
