Boston Bruins defenseman Andrew Ference received a three-game suspension Sunday for a hit on New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh 24 hours earlier. Ference learned of his punishment following a phone hearing with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan. Ference received a charging major and game misconduct for hitting New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh from behind and sending him into the boards during overtime in Saturday's game. McDonagh lay on the ice for an extended period before skating off with the help of the training staff. Rangers head coach John Tortorella termed the hit one of the "most dangerous" he's seen in a while. Ference has four goals and 16 assists in 43 games this season.
