Boston Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg has been ruled out of Thursday's game against the Washington Capitals due to an infection in his leg. Seidenberg's leg was lacerated during Saturday's contest against the Los Angeles Kings. He played in the team's next two contests, but the team's medical staff elected to keep him out for Thursday's tilt as a precaution, ESPN Boston reported. Defenseman Joe Corvo will play in place of Seidenberg, who has collected four goals, 18 assists and 39 penalty minutes this season.

Dennis Seidenberg Out With Infection in Leg, Will Miss His First Game of Season Against Washington

BOSTON -- The Bruins can clinch a playoff spot Thursday against Washington, but they'll have to do it without one of their top defensemen. Dennis Seidenberg, whose reunion with Zdeno Chara on the top pairing has helped turn things around for the Bruins, did not participate in the morning skate and will miss his first game of the season with a leg infection from a cut suffered...

Boston Bruins’ Brad Marchand’s Mullet From Cuts For A Cause

Marchand's Mullet A.B. Brad Marchand definitely wins best/worst mullet after The Boston Bruins’ Cuts For A Cause event. And all styling opinions aside – you have to love the business in the front, party in the back approach that Brad took. This way with a helmet on he can still rock a sick flow out the back. Then when the helmet comes off – well that’s another story....

Shawn Thornton, Bruins Players Go Bald, Raise $58,000 at 5th Annual 'Cuts for a Cause' (Video)

Shawn Thornton and his Boston Bruins teammates grew out their hair and beards during the 2011 playoffs, as a show of solidarity during the team's Stanley Cup finals run. On Wednesday, those same players were getting their haircut as a similar sign of solidarity and support. Thornton and the Bruins had their heads shaved at the team's 5th annual "Cuts for a Cause"...

Amica Coverage Cam Captures Dennis Seidenberg's Rebound Goal to Give Bruins the Lead

Boston defenseman Dennis Seidenberg's cleanup work to put the Bruins ahead 2-1 in Tuesday night's game gets the nod from the Amica Coverage Cam. After roaring back from a shaky start to tie the game in the first period, the B's kept up the pressure in the second period until Seidenberg found the net on a play full of excellent teamwork. Forwards Tyler Seguin and David...

Joe Corvo Returns to Bruins Lineup, But Shoring Up Blueliner's Game Still a Work in Progress

BOSTON – For the first 70 games of the season, Joe Corvo was a fixture on the Bruins defense. He was one of just a handful of players to dress for every game to that point, but had struggled for much of the season. With the depth added at the deadline with the acquisition of veteran blueliners Greg Zanon and Mike Mottau, Corvo found himself suddenly out of the mix, a healthy scratch...

New Bruins Defenseman Torey Krug Scores Sick Shootout Goal During Michigan State Practice (Video)

Bruins fans, meet Torey Krug. The defenseman joined the B's after signing with the club as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State on Sunday, and he hit the ice in Black and Gold for the first time on Tuesday at the team's morning skate at TD Garden. While Krug might not see much action in Boston's remaining six games -- he was a healthy scratch on Tuesday night...

B's have finally found their way

There was something a little bit calming in watching the Bruins lose to the Capitals on Thursday night. It sounds strange to sound relieved after a loss, but the Bruins showed a lot more than a 3-2 shootout loss would normally indicate on paper. They're not dead, and while they're certainly not the favorites going forward, it's clear now that the team's mid-season...

Bruins/Capitals postgame videos

Claude Julien, Andrew Ference, and Joe Corvo interviews after the jump.

He Shoots, He Roars!

It pains me to say it as a both a Flyers fan and a jaded advertising nincompoop, but this Boston Bruins parody title sequence knocks it out of the park. This is what happens when you take a good idea on paper and produce the living **** out of it. The direction, the editing, the music, the titles…it’s no Nanook, but it’s mighty fine work. A sudden surge has the Boston Bruins on the verge of securing an opportunity to defend the Stanley Cup. The Washington Capitals' postseason fate is not nearly as promising.
