BOSTON — The Bruins were more trick than treat for much of their Halloween tilt with the Anaheim Ducks, but when it was all said and done, there was just enough of the good stuff to come away with the two points. Cheesy analogies aside, the Bruins won a hockey game in which they had no business winning for the better part of 60 minutes, and they will certainly take that. One night after losing a highly contested Eastern Conference Finals rematch in Pittsburgh, the Bruins bounced back to get a 3-2 shootout win over Anaheim. It certainly wasn’t easy, and it was far from pretty. Boston came out and played its worst period all season in the first period, managing just one shot on goal. An ugly turnover from the revamped third line had the Bruins down 1-0 after one. The second period wasn’t much better with Boston tying the game only to give up a goal with 20.9 seconds in the second period. The Bruins didn’t necessarily storm back to win the game, but they found a way nonetheless. A powe...

Injury report: Johnny Boychuk and Loui Eriksson

Johnny Boychuk via csnne.comThursday night’s win over Anaheim came with a big loss. Being considered day-to-day, Johnny Boychuk left in the second period of that game with an undisclosed injury. Boychuk crashed hard into the boards and after getting off the ice wasn’t able to return to action. This led to big time minutes being played by the younger group of the Bruin’s...

As they have in the past, the Bruins will once again be taking part in Movember. The initiative is set up to raise money for men’s health issues, and it calls on participants to grow mustaches for the entire month of November. All told, 10 Bruins...

Boston Bruins win despite trick or treat play on Halloween

Jarome Iginla was the only player in the shootout to score, beating goalie Jonas Hiller high glove side. (Photo credit: AP Photo) After one period, the Boston Bruins (8-4-0) looked like their pregame meal was a pillow case full of candy.  Boston’s play in the first was anything but sweet however, as the entire team was sluggish and it showed in the way they forechecked, backchecked...

Buffalo's John Scott suspended for 7 games

The NHL has given Buffalo's John Scott a seven-game suspension for his hit to the head of Boston's Loui Eriksson back on October 23rd. The league determined that Scott's hit to Eriksson's head was severe enough to warrant a large punishment even though the forward has no previous history of NHL discipline. Scott has already served three games while waiting for his...

UCLA O-Coordinator Says His Mom And Dog “Are The Only Two People That Like Me Right Now”

UCLA has an extremely talented football team in 2013, but right now, the Bruins have hit a rough patch. UCLA climbed as high as ninth in AP Poll to start the season, but has now suffered back-to-back to losses to very good Stanford and Oregon teams. The major issue in the two losses was the offense — the Bruins only scored 24 points in the two games combined. Offensive coordinator...

Pens/Bruins Recap by @pghgirl15222

The Pittsburgh Penguins stared down some of their demons on Wednesday during a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins. There were times during the game I wondered if the refs had eyes or knew what a penalty was as both sides got away with a lot of questionable play, but the Pens were able to capitalize on their opportunities and come away with the victory. The truth is for at...

Bruins-Islanders Preview

Keeping the puck out of their own net continues to be a problem for the New York Islanders. It certainly has been in recent games against the Boston Bruins. The Islanders overcame those defensive deficiencies for one game and will try to win two straight for the first time this season Saturday night against the visiting Bruins. A determined effort by the Islanders on Friday at...

Bruins Preparing To Meet The Penguins Tonight

from Joe Haggerty of CSNNE, Boston humbled the mighty Pens last spring, and Zdeno Chara pushed Sidney Crosby around the ice like a bully kicking sand on the 98-pound weakling. Key offensive players like Crosby, Jarome Iginla, Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin were all bottled up by the Bruins defense, and Pittsburgh had no answer to Boston’s physicality once the puck dropped for...
