8 a.m. ET: The Bruins got a mini-vacation this weekend, with two days off, a rarity in an action-packed schedule. That ends abruptly Monday when the B’s open a busy week. Boston heads to Carolina on Monday night for the first of four games in a six-day stretch, taking on the Hurricanes. It’s the first of a back-to-back, as the B’s return home Tuesday to take on the Devils. But first they’ll have to take on a Canes team that is coming off a two-day hiatus of its own. Carolina beat the Sabres on Friday, sweeping a home-and-home series with Buffalo. After being outscored 9-1 in their first two games, the Hurricanes bounced back to outscore the Sabres 9-4 in their two wins. The Bruins will have to open their busy week without defenseman Adam McQuaid. McQuaid missed Sunday’s practice, and he won’t travel with the team to Carolina. He’ll miss action due to personal reasons. That means that journeyman blue liner Aaron Johnson will likely rejoin the mix. He saw time recently in the absence ...

Anton Khudobin Proves He Is Ready to Play, Helps Bruins Keep Rolling With Strong 2013 Debut

Anton Khudobin waited patiently for his chance to get back out on NHL ice. He got his first chance to do that since April 5 on Monday night, and he didn’t disappoint. The absence of Tim Thomas meant that Tuukka Rask would get a chance to show what he could do as the starter. It also meant that Khudobin, who has spent most of his Bruins career in Providence, would also get a chance...

Bruins Not Trying to Mask Their Emotions, With Special Teams Coming Out Firing in ‘Revenge’ Game (Video)

The Bruins came out firing on Monday, and the Hurricanes fired back their best response. Now, the two teams will duke it out in what is quickly becoming an emotional affair down in Carolina. Brad Marchand scored a shorthanded goal to spark the Bruins early, but his comments during the first intermission also could serve as a springboard for the team. While admitting that this is...

Relaxed Bruins Enjoy Road Trip to Carolina, But Game Turns Into More Stressful Affair (Video)

The Bruins had a nice, relaxing trip to Carolina to play the Hurricanes. Once they got there, though, all bets were off. A frantic game between the B’s and Canes had more inauspicious beginning, as the players boarded their plane in Boston to head south in search of some competition … Little did they know that so much of it would be waiting for them. Brad Marchand: Jeff Skinner ‘Slew-Foots All the Time,’ Says Skinner’s Slew-Foot on Patrice Bergeron Was ‘Very Blatant’

Marchand, who was fined last year for committing the act in Pittsburgh, spoke about Hurricanes’ forward Jeff Skinner‘s questionable slew-foot on Patrice Bergeron on Tuesday morning, according to CBS Boston. “Skinner slew-foots all the time and he’s always doing that to guys and I think [Bergeron] just had enough...

Bruins looking for their best start in 21 seasons

Bourque and Neely combined for 77 goals and 106 assists for the '90-91 Bruins. With a win Monday night, the Bruins would improve to 4-0-1 on the season, matching their best start to a season since the 1990-1991 campaign. That season, Cam Neely and Ray Bourque brought the Bruins to the ECF, where they fell to Mark Recchi and the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Penguins. Standing...

What's worse -- the Bruins third line or the Bruins PP?

Every day, we have a "Staff chat" on GChat where we shoot the **** about things that have no reason to ever see the light of day. Most of the time it has to do with video games or comic books or something completely offbase that would have the FBI or CIA knocking at our door. Today, though, Justin posed a question that I felt would be perfect for our first round table of...

(Video) Patrice Bergeron and Jeff Skinner dust-up

This is why Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron was tied up with Carolina forward Jeff Skinner at the end of last night's game. You can see by the video that Bergeron was slew footed by Skinner behind the Bruins net. This was what Brad Marchand was suspended for last season. Marchand: "Skinner slew foots all the time." Said he and Bergeron talked about it before...
