The Blackhawks wasted little time putting the pressure on the Bruins in Game 2, but the B’s are hanging around. Boston is probably lucky to only be trailing by one goal after a frantic first period, in which Tuukka Rask made more saves than Corey Crawford might have to all game. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is a little worried about the B’s, but he knows this could have gotten out of hand a lot more easily. See why there’s no reason to despair in the above video. Bruins Beat: Tuukka Rask Rocks A Suit Like His Goalie Pads…..Cool, Calm & Collected (Photo)

Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask has been cooler than the other side of the pillow this postseason. In his first playoff run as the Boston’s true #1, all Rask has done is post a 13-5 record with a ridiculous 1.73 GAA (perhaps he teases Tim Thomas about his pedestrian 1.98 GAA in 2011).  So the hockey “pundits” may argue which goalie had a more epic playoff performance when the...

The Unsung Hereos

Brent Bailey 06/16/2013   The Year of the Unsung Hero               When it comes to sports during the playoffs, there will always be a player(s) that will step up in big moments. Most teams have one or two players who are the superstars of the team, and always seem to be the hero. This year for the Bruins, there have been plenty of players that have stepped up in desperate...

Tim Thomas, Tuukka Rask Still Keep in Touch, But Won’t Say What They Discuss

BOSTON — Just imagine what Tuukka Rask and Tim Thomas chat about when the present and past Boston Bruins goalies, and friends, have time to talk. Perhaps they discuss what it’s like to stop shot after shot at the most important time of the season. But Rask isn’t saying. “It’s between him and me,” he said Sunday. In 2011, Thomas won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable...

Grand Theft Bruins. BRUINS WIN!

What a game. Again. The Bruins should've won Game 1 but blew it. They played like crap for the vast majority of Game 2 but Rask bailed them out. If the Bruins played all game like they did in OT there would not have been an OT. Rask literally stole a game. The Paille made us all explode.  We're too pumped to finish this intro. This series is killing us and we love it...

Jaromir Jagr’s Extra Work Paying Off, Says He Went ‘Top Shelf’ on Tuukka Rask in Czech Republic (Video)

The days of flashy goals and all the glory are behind 41-year-old Jaromir Jagr — and he knows it. The veteran player hasn’t scored once in the playoffs but has assisted on seven goals in 18 games. Despite not being the center of attention, Jagr has showcased his strong work ethic, putting in late-night skating sessions to work on his conditioning. Those extra hours seem to be...

SCF Winner - It May Come Down To Survival Skills

from Rick Morrissey of the Chicago Sun-Times, Neither team wants you to feel sorry for it. In fact, both teams would prefer not to discuss it. Getting an NHL player to talk about his physical state is like getting a rogue state to talk about labor camps. Part of the code is to not complain about aches and pains, especially this time of year, when the rallying cry is to play...

Patrick Sharp finally scores after mad scramble in front of net

Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask has been playing fantastically in the first period of Game 2.  At the end of one period, he has already made 18 saves.  Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp was able to get one past Rask though, after this mad scramble in front of the net. Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane put the first two shots on net and the puck was eventually kicked out to...

End of first: Bruins struggle, Patrick Sharp gives ‘Hawks 1-0 lead

The Blackhawks severely outplayed the Bruins in the first period, with the ‘Hawks outshooting the Bruins 19 to 4. Tuukka Rask was great from the get-go, stopping 18 of 19 to help bail out his teammates. Chicago’s only goal of the first came at the 11:22 mark of the first period when Andrew Sharp was able to pick one on a sprawled Rask, who had stopped a barrage of shots just...

Slice of Paille; Bruins win game two

“That’s the definition of grinding one out and stealing one right there.” It was a text message that my buddy Sully sent to me moments after game two between the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks was over. In overtime, Danny Paille got free after a turnover between the circles and fired one off the inside of the post and into the net to give the Boston Bruins a win and...

Looking Past Game One of the Stanley Cup Finals: Can the Bruins Recover?

For the first time in 34 years two of professional hockey’s original six teams meet to fight for the Stanley Cup. The Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks kicked off the grand finale of the NHL season Wednesday night in Chicago with both teams coming into this series with a ton of confidence and momentum. Both won their final games by a single goal: the Bruins in regulation to...
