The Boston Bruins acquired forward Brian Rolston and defenseman Mike Mottau from the New York Islanders prior to Monday's trade deadline. The Bruins gave up prospects Yannick Riendeau and Marc Cantin in the deal. Both players will report to Bridgeport of the AHL. Boston also traded for defenseman Greg Zanon of Minnesota in exchange for defenseman Steve Kampfer in a separate deal. Rolston had recently been put on waivers and Mottau was activated off the injured list Sunday after sitting 26 games with a concussion. Rolston spent 1999-2004 with the Bruins. Peter Chiarelli and the Boston Bruins broke their silence on Monday, making a few moves to help add depth to their suddenly injury-riddled roster.
