Defensemen Joe Corvo ended the Bruins’ longest goal scoring drought of the season six minutes into the third period, but it was their only goal of the game and it was not enough.
The Bruins, coming off a shutout loss against the lowly Carolina Hurricanes, were once again offensively challenged in this afternoon’s game, ultimately losing 2-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins, who got a great goaltending performance from Marc-Andre Fleury.
The streaking Penguins (9-1-0 in their last 10 games) got goals from red hot Evgeni Malkin, a possible MVP candidate, and Bruins’ arch-villian Matt Cooke. Malkin’s goal came late in the first period on the powerplay, when a shot from Chris Kunitz squirted from the crease onto Malkin’s stick, who put it home past goalie Tim Thomas with only 8 seconds left in the period for his 28th of the year.
Matt Cooke is well known to Bruins fans as the cheap shot artist that left B’s center Marc Savard severely concussed after a bli...

Tuukka Rask Still Learning Game of Football, But Already an Old Pro at Hosting Bruins' Super Bowl Party
WILMINGTON, Mass. -- By almost any measure, the NFL has become the most dominant sports league in the world. The NFL has a reach extending across the globe, with Sunday’s Super Bowl being broadcast to nearly 200 countries. But America's version of football hasn't captured the attention of many in Finland, where soccer -– and hockey -– reign supreme. But at least one...
How Important Is Nathan Horton to the Bruins' Success?
Nathan Horton made progress recently on his road back to recovery after sustaining a concussion against the Philadelphia Flyers. According to Bruins coach Claude Julien, Horton is able to now ride an exercise bike without any ill effects, an important step as he works his way back into the lineup. Horton has missed the last four games for the Bruins and without him on the ice, the...
Dennis Seidenberg Celebrates Son's Birth With Goal in Comeback Victory Over Senators (Video)
Dennis Seidenberg had a day to remember on Jan. 31, when he celebrated the birth of his son with the winning goal in the Bruins' come-from-behind victory over Ottawa. Seidenberg's slap shot at the 7:09 mark of the third period gave the Bruins a much-needed victory in a week in which they faltered, and it also gave Seidenberg an unforgettable memory as the Ketel One Honorable...
Milan Lucic's Opportunistic Scoring Play Wins Bruins Amica Coverage Cam Play of the Week
Good things happen when you space the ice and crash the net, as the Bruins displayed perfectly on Tuesday night against the Senators. David Krejci got some net-front presence near goal, Rich Peverley delivered a perfect pass and Milan Lucic delivered a well-placed wrist shot for a big goal in an eventual win against the Senators. That all-around play was good enough to win the Bruins...
Bruins Confident Patriots Can Bring Another Championship to Boston, Appreciate Bond Between City's Sports Teams
The Bruins have long followed the one game at a time mantra, never looking past the next opponent on their schedule. That only applies to their schedule though. So even though the Bruins have two games of their own taking place first, they had no problem talking about the big game coming up on Sunday. Well, at least they didn't after having a little fun first. "You want...
Tyler Seguin Bright Spot in Bruins' 'Saturday Slide' Loss to Penguins
The Bruins seem to be having some trouble on Saturdays this year. Boston is winless in 2012 during Saturday games and have lost three of their last four overall. Tyler Seguin played great against the Penguins, but was ultimately stymied by Marc-Andre Fleury and Pittsburgh escaped with a 2-1 victory. NESN Nation's Dan Duquette is still giving Seguin our "Saturday Slide"...

Thomas, Bruins shut down Capitals
Tim Thomas' return to the nation's capital was less political and more successful.
Playing about 10 blocks from the White House - a place he famously avoided two weeks ago - Thomas carried a shutout deep into the third period Sunday as the Boston Bruins snapped a two-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals.
Thomas' no-show, accompanied by a Facebook...
Bruins Will Have to Face Alex Ovechkin on This Visit to Washington As Boston Tries to Snap Out of Slump
The Bruins have lost back-to-back games for the first time in nearly two months. On Sunday, they'll try to prevent suffering three straight defeats for the first time since October. They'll have to get through a Capitals team with star Alex Ovechkin back in the lineup to do that. Ovechkin returned Saturday but did not factor in any of Washington's goals in a 3-0 win at...
Dennis Seidenberg's Tie-Breaking Goal Against Senators Takes Captain Morgan Goal of the Week Honors
Tyler Seguin turned 20 years old the same night the Bruins topped the Senators in a hard-fought battle between two Northeast division rivals. The win was surely a great birthday present for the young forward. The difference in the 4-3 Boston win was a long-range, sniper shot from the stick of Dennis Seidenberg. After passing back and forth with Joe Corvo, Seidenberg reared back and...
Bruins can’t get momentum
