Bruins fans have waited seven long days, but we have finally reached the eve of the Eastern Conference finals. After a week of prognosticating, analyzing and dissecting every possible storyline, the puck will drop Saturday night at 8 p.m. for Game 1 between the B’s and the high-powered Pittsburgh Penguins. As Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask said Friday night, “It’s about time.” Check out the video above to hear from players on both sides as they make their final preparations.

Tuukka Rask’s First Career Playoff Shutout Comes at Perfect Time As Bruins Blank Penguins in Game 1

Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask just looked to be skating back to the bench at the end of the second period in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final. That’s where he came across Penguins captain Sidney Crosby. The two made a little bit of contact, which led to a little bit of stickwork between the two and eventually a shove from Crosby. That was about the closest that any Penguin came...

David Krejci Misses Bruins Practice Thursday, Reason for Absence Was ‘Minimal Maintenance’

The Bruins were without the league’s leading playoff scorer Thursday at practice, but it’s apparently nothing to be too concerned about. David Krejci didn’t take the ice for Bruins practice at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington, Mass., on Thursday morning, which may have been a little bit unsettling for Bruins fans after Krejci practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, B’s...

Matt Cooke ejected for check on McQuaid

Matt Cooke is public enemy No. 1 in Boston … again. The controversial Penguins forward (best known in Beantown for ending Marc Savard‘s career with this hit) was ejected from Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals on Saturday after checking Adam McQuaid into the boards from behind. Cooke was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct, and McQuaid went to the Boston locker...

Bruins Grab ‘Steeltown Stunner’ Win From Penguins in Surprisingly Easy Fashion (Video)

It wasn’t supposed to be this easy. Right? The Bruins cruised to a 3-0 win over the Penguins in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals, laying waste to the expectations that many had set out for the team entering play. After all, the Pens were the ones thought to have the superior squad, and the B’s were decidedly the underdogs. That perception has changed in a big way after...

Bruins Players Talk Playoff Beards & Futile Facial Hair Attempts (VIDEO)

It’s the NHL playoffs which means heartburn, cardiac arrest and beards. The Bruins players talk about their whiskers and their teammates’ futile facial hair attempts. Poor Marchy perhaps he should buy one of these:     Yeah, if you don’t want to embarrass yourself like the little beardless ball of hate, order this shirt and get free shipping by using the BIGBADBRUINS code!

David Krejci, Bruins Shine in Best Images From Dominating Game 1 Victory Over Penguins (Photos)

The Bruins came into Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals as underdogs. It would be difficult to call them that after this one. Boston dominated throughout, running away from the Penguins en route to a 3-0 victory and a one-game lead in this best-of-seven series. David Krejci‘s two goals paced the Bruins to a surprisingly easy victory, in a game that set the stage for some serious...

Tracking the Playoffs: Penguins vs. Bruins Game 1

If you're wondering why I did not have any scoring chances posted from the last round, it's a long story. I'll just say that I've had a limited amount of spare time the last few weeks and was not able to post any analysis of the second round. Despite that minor setback, I should be back in full force for the Conference Finals and will provide a closer look at the...

Torey Krug, Matt Bartkowski Don’t Anticipate Change in Defensive Game Plan Against Penguins

There has been much anticipation for the Eastern Conference finals, as the Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins face off after a week-long wait. The Bruins are coming off of a 4-1 series win over the New York Rangers, and the Penguins defeated the Ottawa Senators in 4-1 fashion, as well. Despite Pittsburgh having swept Boston in the regular season, the Bruins are prepared to...

Pittsburgh bar bans sale of Boston brew during Pens-Bruins

RECAP: GAME ONE. Four posts and eight days ago. PENS LOSE.

The Bruins and Pens, the last two Cup champs from the East, finally got down to business in Game One, and it was fun.  It's gonna take some type of series to live up to the hype generated by a long eight-day layoff. We're off to a pretty good start.   Crosby and Chara chirped eached other and had a Wrestlemania-like showdown at the end of a wild second period. Malkin...

Previewing the Eastern Conference Finals: Bruins vs Penguins

After a historic comeback in the first round nobody knew what the Bruins would bring to the second round.  After all, they had underachieved and nearly got upset in the first round.  The Rangers provided some unknowns and difficulties to the series, primarily their ability to block shots and the stellar history Henrik Lundqvist has against the Bruins.  However, the Rangers offense...

How the Boston Bruins got Pittsburgh off their game

At the end of the second period after a scrum involving Tuukka Rask, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Patrice Bergeron and Zdeno Chara (one of these things is not like the others!), NBC brought up the difference in “hits” between the Boston Bruins and the Pittsburgh Penguins. At that time, the difference was way in the favor of the Pittsburgh Penguins. They were leading the hits...
