Although it may be tough to believe, hockey season is actually here. The Bruins are back. The regular season opens up Friday, when the Rangers come to town to take on the B's at the TD Garden. When the puck drops at seven, the two teams will battle it out for the first time this season. Both teams are relying on the little bit of practice that they've had as a whole so far. This includes tomorrows starting goalies, Henrik Lundqvist and Tuukka Rask. These are two goaltenders who are usually very solid between the pipes, but could look a bit shaky tomorrow in net, given the circumstances. That being said, these guys are professionals, so they should provide some support for their teams. Each teams offense should be interesting to see as well. Although these guys have also been off the ice for a while, the lack of practice at the opposite end of the ice should make up for it. This game could end up high scoring because of this. Of course, some play...

Henrick Lundqvist Understands The Muppets’ Swedish Chef – ‘This Is SportsCenter’

As with every single one of their “This Is SportsCenter” commercials, you will finish watching ESPN’s latest ad and crack a smile. The premise is incredible hard to understand but the YouTube description breaks it down thankfully. “SportsCenter cafeteria has a new chef and Henrik Lundqvist is the only person that can understand him.” See, that wasn’t too difficult...

Tuukka Rask Has Bruins’ Highest Career Save Percentage

Hopes are high for the Boston Bruins this season and the team’s goalie should be one of the biggest reasons. Tuukka Rask holds a distinct honor in Bruins’ history. Rask has played 103 total games with Boston, and he’s the franchise’s leader in save percentage. Rask has a save percentage of .926, which is .005 better than Tim Thomas, who’s No. 2 on the list. Rask has received...

Henrik Lundqvist in This Is Sportscenter

Rangers star netminder made an apperance in the latest "This Is Sportscenter" commercial. In this episode, the ESPN cafeteria has a new chef, and the only person who can understand him is Henrik Lundqvist...   ... Wait, did I just see ESPN acknowledge hockey? Must have been dreaming. ... No Carl Hagelin cameo either? Lame. Follow me on Twitter @TheWrage...

Rask stars in net as Bruins top Rangers

Tuukka Rask stopped 20 shots for Boston in his first game after taking over for two-time Vezina Trophy winner Tim Thomas, and the Bruins beat the New York Rangers 3-1 Saturday night in the lockout-delayed season opener. Milan Lucic and Daniel Paille scored for Boston, which won the Northeast Division last year before losing in the first round of the playoffs. Rask backed up Thomas...

Rask takes torch from Thomas as Bruins return

The Boston Bruins are hoping they can take advantage of the shortened season with a veteran team that's largely the same as last year. The big difference is the absence of goalie Tim Thomas, who has decided to sit out a season. The team has placed the two-time Vezina Trophy winner on the suspended list. That means Tuukka Rask is the No. 1 goalie for now. Rask had the job in...

One game a season does not make

My hair so sexy. Well, the Rangers lost last night. Not only did they lose, but they looked awful in the process. They were rusty, sluggish, sloppy, and looked like they needed another week of training camp. They took bad penalties, and missed defensive zone coverages more often than I can count. The only good thing is that Henrik Lundqvist looked to be in midseason form. But around...

The Goal Breakdown: Rangers at Bruins

If you want one word to sum up the New York Rangers tonight feel free to use sloppy. The Rangers were defeated 3-1 by the Boston Bruins and were second best in almost every facet. Throughout the season the goals in each game (as well as a brief game summary) will be broken down right here so keep on coming back. Let’s get in to it. Boston 1 Rangers 0 The Rangers got caught on a...

Young stars must carry the 2013 Bruins

For the upcoming shortened NHL season to end in another cup for the Bruins, this must be a breakthrough year for our young talent. Here I am primarily referring to Tyler Seguin and Tuukka Rask.  These are two guys who can be superstars in this league for years to come, and if they play to the level they are capable of consistently, they will carry the team to playoff success for...

Bruins oust rival Rangers in testy season opener

BOSTON -- The Bruins spent their opening game giving all kinds of goodies to their fans to welcome them back from the long lockout. They clearly had no intention, however, of giving away a game as they beat the New York Rangers, 3-1, in an Original Six battle, the opener for both teams, Saturday night. "It was a great effort," center Patrice Bergeron said his team struggled...

Quiet On the Offensive Front

With a somewhat revamped offense and Rick Nash in the lineup, the New York Rangers' offense was quiet in their season opening 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins. Obviously, it was the first game and players still have to get used to each other, but nevertheless, the Blueshirts did not generate enough offensive pressure. While the Bruins' defensemen are big and do a good job...
