So the update was supposed to happen Sunday and didn't. And then Monday at 5pm and didn't. But at some point yesterday evening the Boston Bruins finally released news on Tuukka Rask's status.BostonBruins.com  -- Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli issued the following the update regarding goaltender Tuukka Rask who was injured during the Bruins/Islanders game on Saturday, March 3: "Tuukka Rask sustained a lower abdomen strain/groin strain and will be sidelined 4-6 weeks."It happened while making what looked to be a fairly routine save against the Islanders. We're blaming this on ******* DiPietro -- that scrub's injury bug is contagious. To make up for the lack of goaltending depth in the system, the Bruins are signing Marty Turco -- yep, fan betting Marty ******* Turco. Turco and Tuukka sound the same right? Could always respell it to Tuurcco. A somewhat surprise signing but it's better than the alternatives. Obviously it sucks to lose Rask bu...

Tuukka Rask Out Four to Six Weeks With Lower Abdomen Strain, Groin Strain

When Tuukka Rask left Saturday's game against the Islanders, it didn't look good. The Finnish goaltender was helped off the ice after suffering what -- at the time -- to be an apparent leg injury. As it turns out, it's actually a lower abdomen strain/groin strain, which will require Rask to miss four to six weeks, the Bruins announced on Monday. The only other information...

Bruins Odds to Win Stanley Cup Take Hit With Tuukka Rask Injury, Still Boast Good Odds to Win Eastern Conference

The Boston Bruins simply can’t snap out of their funk. On Saturday, they were supposed to pick up an easy win over the New York Islanders to win back-to-back games for the first time since January 10th-12th, and prepare for a showdown with the best team in the Eastern Conference on Sunday. Instead, the Bruins lost at home to the Islanders, then visited Madison Square Garden and...

Ty Anderson: Rask likely done for year with groin injury; B's sign Turco

Four to six weeks. Otherwise known as the rest of the regular season and perhaps into the second round of the playoffs -- if the Bruins can make it that far. That's the diagnosis on Boston goaltender Tuukka Rask, who suffered a groin injury midway through Saturday's loss to the New York Islanders. But it won't be four weeks. Hell, the Bruins will be lucky if it'...

Latest Chapter in Boston-New York Rivalry Could Improve With 'Calvinball' Approach to Scheduling (Video)

Oh, joy. Another Boston vs. New York matchup, and it probably couldn't be coming at a worse time for the Bruins. On the heels of a tough loss to the Islanders, the B's now visit the Big Apple hoping to turn things around without Tuukka Rask, among many other injured stars. Interestingly enough, the Celtics are also playing their New York counterpart on Sunday, but all four...

Thomas Blames MSG Lights for Poor Performance

CBS Sports Boston reports that Tim Thomas blamed the dim lighting at MSG for his less than stellar performance (just 13 saves on 17 shots) during the Rangers 4-3 over Boston yesterday. When asked if he is ready for the increased workload that awaits if backup Tuukka Rask is injured significantly, Thomas responded..."Yeah. Especially if I go to an arena with lights."Henrik...

Old Goalies Never Die, They Just Skate Around Till Their Needed

The lower body  injury to Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask (4-6 weeks) sent the Bruins on a wild chase to find an acceptable backup for Tim Thomas.  Now Thomas (since he is not Miikka Kiprusoff) will need some days off to get ready for the playoffs, so a good backup is essential.  The Bruins found a replacement in long time Stars (and Hawks) goalie Marty Turco.  His career stats...

Boston Bruins sign Marty Turco after Tuukka Rask's injury

Marty Turco is back in the NHL. Today the Boston Bruins signed the veteran netminder to a one-year, $600,000 pro rated contract as reported by Pierre LeBrun. The news comes after Boston learned that current backup goaltender Tuukka Rask is expected to miss the next four to six weeks with a groin / lower abdominal strain.  Turco needs to clear waivers before officially becoming...

Peter Chiarelli Puts Marty Turco's Chances of Clearing Waivers at '50/50' (Video)

With Tuukka Rask sidelined for four to six weeks, the Bruins signed veteran goaltender Marty Turco to a one-year contract on Monday. However, Turco's arrival in Boston isn't a sure thing just yet, as the three-time All-Star still has to clear waivers before joining the club. It might not pose a problem given the limited interest in the 36-year-old, but general manager Peter...

Marty Turco, to the Black and Gold Courtesy Phone, Please!

The Boston Bruins, looking at a great big empty where Tuukka Rask used to be, signed Marty Turco to play for the rest of the season. Turco, who had been playing for EC Red Bull Salzburg (which maks you wonder if they have a special rate for NHL goalies—Arturs Irbe finished his career with Red Bull) while waiting for a call from an NHL franchise. Now he gets to wait a bit longer...

David Krejci's Hot Streak Alongside Milan Lucic, Tyler Seguin Could Make New Line Tough to Break Up (Video)

Tuukka Rask's injury could make life difficult for Tim Thomas and the Bruins down the stretch, but as NESN's Mark Mowers puts it, you can't count out Thomas because he's consistently proved doubters wrong throughout his career. What is evident, though, is that the B's will need to elevate their game against difficult opponents, such as the Rangers. The B's...

Bruins Sign Marty Turco. I'm Dead Serious.

Its like a bad joke. The Bruins have signed Marty Turco, which probably means that Rask is out for awhile. ******* Marty Turco, are you ******** me? There's a few things that worry me about this:   It means Tuukka Rask is out for awhile. With Timmy and Turco, the Bruins goaltending age must average about 50 Someone in Boston may win $5 Marty ******* Turco. I need a drink.
