The Bruins and Sabres didn’t like each other very much a season ago, and chances are, the Sabres are still pretty unhappy with a few members of the Black and Gold. Last year, the teams fought a total of six times. The B’s fought the Flyers more times (eight) last season, but with five matchups against Buffalo during this year’s 48-game schedule, things can get pugilistically chaotic awfully fast. Let’s backtrack to how things got awesomely sour a year ago. For starters, Buffalo fans will never forgve B’s winger Milan Lucic for his hit on goalie Ryan Miller back on Nov. 12, 2011. This hit sparked some bad blood between the two clubs, as they’d throw down in some spirited matchups throughout the year. Paul Gaustad did his best to do give Lucic some payback just a 11 days after Lucic and Miller’s dust-up, but it wouldn’t end there. Check out a gallery of last season’s bad blood between the Sabres and Bruins below. Oh, and by the way… Steve Ott is a Sabre. Enjoy the show, ladies and gent

Bourque Not Living Up to Expectations, Lucic Surpassing Them

Milan Lucic and Chris Bourque are two Bruins players who both came into the season with question marks surrounding them. Lucic was ridiculed by critics, including me, as being fat and out of shape. I personally said he was caught in between being a scorer and a tough physical forward. But in the first six games Lucic has two goals and two assists equaling up to four points in six...

Which Goalie Has Won the Most Career Vezina Trophies?

The Bruins and Sabres have had some legendary goalies fill their creases over the years. Current Sabres goalie Ryan Miller happens to be one of the NHL’s best netminders, but with just one Vezina Trophy to his name he’s got a long ways to go to catch up to the NHL’s all-time leader, who has earned seven of the annual awards. Which goalie has won the most career Vezina Trophies...

Boston Bruins / Buffalo Sabres rivalry keeps intensifying

It seems as if each time the Boston Bruins face the Buffalo Sabres the rivalry between the two teams intensifies. In case you've forgotten what brought the rivalry to a boil back in 2011, here's a video reminder of the Milan Lucic hit on Ryan Miller. The two clubs still have plenty of anger brewing in 2013. When they squared off on the final day of January, the Sabres...

Ty Anderson: Take Five: Vanek, Sabres embarrass defenseless Bruins

It was supposed to be a ‘fight night’ at the TD Garden. The Buffalo Sabres, embarrassed by the Boston Bruins in front of the world last year when Milan Lucic’s trucking of Ryan Miller went unanswered, beefed up their roster with offseason acquisitions of both Steve Ott and the 6-foot-8 John Scott, and did so with the primary idea of putting an end to the Bruins’...

In which Sabres fans hail John Scott as their lord & savior

Jesus Christ these tweets are ******* amazing. I'd really enjoy watching Sheriff John Scott lay out Lucic tonight #NHL #payback — Bilbo Teabaggins (@Cucumber_Kid_71) January 31, 2013   I hope John Scott plays tonight, so I can see him beat the **** out of Lucic. — Nathan Schultz (@Shouts23) January 31, 2013   John Scott should run...

Boston/Buffalo- Revenge Game Tonight?

from Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News, The Sabres are 0-3-1 in their last four games and haven’t been able to shake their doldrums after a 2-0 start. Miller needs to make sure one bad game doesn’t turn into two or more and what a doozy of a chance he has Thursday night. The Eastern Conference-leading Boston Bruins (5-0-1). In TD Garden, where they are 4-0. In what’s...

Vote: Which of These Opposing Agitators Is the Bruins’ Biggest Nemesis?

The Buffalo Sabres are sick and tired of being pushed around by the Boston Bruins. Everyone remembers early last November when Milan Lucic barreled into Buffalo goaltender Ryan Miller and the Sabres offered little resistance. This offseason, Buffalo decided to make some moves to bring in guys who have a reputation of being physical. Of these  transactions, one stands out more...

Bruins’ Offense Uses Angels to Set Up Power Play Chances in Buffalo Zone (Video)

Andy Brickley does indeed enjoy triangles. During a first-period power play, the Bruins showed just how well they can set up in the offensive zone. The team used a triangle formation to Buffalo goalie Ryan Miller‘s right, and Rich Peverley aggressively put a long-range shot on net which set up a second opportunity. For that chance, Peverly served as a decoy, allowing Milan Lucic...

Double Minors: Vanek powers Sabres

Tuesday night didn’t end well. Ryan Miller allowed a pair of questionable goals and there were some struggles from various players on the roster. However, Tuesday’s overtime loss to the Leafs was followed by a 7-4 win over the Bruins. Thomas Vanek continued his Hart-worthy play with a five-point effort that was complimented by his first hat trick since 2011. Buffalo’s defensive...

Maple Leafs 4, Sabres 3 (OT)

BUFFALO -- The Toronto Maple Leafs won in dramatic fashion over the Buffalo Sabres Tuesday night, 4-3, with Matt Frattin's late overtime winner. Frattin chipped the winner past Ryan Miller with just 1.5 seconds remaining in overtime. Frattin had two goals for the Leafs, including his overtime strike. On the goal, he drove past Sabres defenseman Jordan Leopold and went hard...

Losers of 4 Straight, Slump or Mediocrity?

Through six games of the Buffalo Sabres season we’ve Lindy Ruff’s crew commit egregious errors in defensive zone coverage several times a game, in virtually every game.  More times than not these mistakes have ended up in the twine behind Ryan Miller, and Buffalo has dropped four straight contests as a result.  Are these missteps a sign of a team that is in a slump, and hasn’t...
