Lane MacDermid Had Two Fighting Majors in the Game Tonight The Boston Bruins shook off Thursday's loss with a 1-0 victory, in their first trip to the land of Canada for their first of four games against the Toronto Maple Leafs. As we all know that in 2009 the Bruins traded then 21 yr old Phil Kessel, to Toronto for Toronto's first and second round 2010 pick and their first pick of the 2011 draft. Also, in 2006 we traded then goalie Andrew Raycroft for Tuukka. Who was the smarter team? Ya, that's right the Bruins. Although it wasn't a blow out, the Bruins played their brand of hockey, with solid defense. Tuukka had 21 saves in the shut out and the defense made key plays to prevent the Maple Leafs from scoring. The lone game came from the man that I called out the other day, Chris Bourque. Maybe, Bourque and the rest of the third line read my post, because since I wrote that post, the third line has a goal in consecutive games. Also Bourque helped himself out, sho...

Providence Bruins’ Jordan Caron Takes A 90MPH Slapshot To The Face

Gong Show Gear: 90 MPH Slapshot to the face of Jordan Caron in the AHL last week, that the way she goes sometimes eh? GONGSHOW A.B. According to The Hockey News, “Caron was expected to compete for a roster spot at training camp with Boston, but his shoulder ailment prevented him from doing so.” Now just a few weeks after returning to the Providence Bruins on 1/18/13 he catches...

Shawn Thornton and hockey toughness

This fight left Shawn Thornton with a concussion Shawn Thornton is out for awhile with a concussion. It was shocking given the state of hockey, where concussions are recorded in the injury report as the mysterious “upper body injury”. Is it a bum shoulder or perhaps a hurt psyche? The fans will never know, only that it is in the upper half of the human body. Shawn Thornton is...

Bruins' Thornton out with concussion

The Boston Bruins say forward Shawn Thornton will miss 7-10 days with a concussion. Thornton was injured in the first period of Thursday night's game against Buffalo when he fought with Sabres forward John Scott. He did not return. Thornton has one goal and 25 penalty minutes this season. The Bruins recalled forward Jamie Tardiff from the AHL on Friday. Tardiff leads the Providence...

Bruins’ Season Will Continue to Be Filled With Fights Say ‘The Instigators’ (Video)

This shortened season has already provided us with a multitude of fights from the Bruins — almost double the amount of fights they had last year — but the question remains if this is a trend that will remain consistent or if the altercations will decrease. It is hard to say if the spike in clashes is due to extra energy the guys have from the lockout or if it is a result of teams...

Tuukka Rask Makes Toronto ‘Shutout City’ as Bruins Run Winning Streak to Seven Against Maple Leafs (Video)

It wasn’t always pretty on Saturday night, but a win’s a win for the Bruins. Tuukka Rask earned his first shutout of the year, and the B’s ran their winning streak to seven games against the Leafs. Chris Bourque scored the lone goal of the game, and the Bruins bounced back in a big way after enduring one of their worst defensive efforts in quite some time their last game. NESN...

Bruins Get Defensive in Win Over Maple Leafs, Earn Well-Deserved Rest After Busy Week

Claude Julien was extremely critical of his club following Thursday night’s game, and why wouldn’t he be? The Bruins embarrassed themselves with an uncharacteristically “brain-dead” defensive performance that left them with their first regulation loss of the season. Julien sent that message through the media, and he obviously sent it loud and clear inside his team’s dressing...

Say It Ain't So! Shawn Thornton Out for Next 7-10 Days

Shawn Thornton didn't look so good after taking a beating from John Scott last night. Bruins should give Twos a ******* purple heart medal for that and everything else he's done for the team. And the Bruins are now announcing that Thornton is out for the next 7-10 days with a concussion. From BostonBruins.com:   Boston Bruins General Manager Peter...

Bruins 1, Maple Leafs 0

TORONTO -- Chris Bourque scored a first-period goal, and Tuukka Rask picked up his first shutout of the season as the Boston Bruins defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 1-0 on Saturday at Air Canada Centre. Rask turned aside 21 shots while improving his record to 5-1-1 for the season. The Bruins had 34 shots on goal, and Toronto goalie James Reimer stopped all but one. The Bruins...

Toronto’s James Reimer Foils Tyler Seguin With Knob Save (Video)

With the Bruins on the power play, Tyler Seguin was looking to add to Boston’s 1-0 lead against Toronto on Saturday. His slap shot from the right circle fooled Leafs goalie James Reimer, but the netminder was able to turn the shot away — in very unusual fashion. The Amica Coverage Cam shows Seguin’s shot deflecting off the knob of Reimer’s stick and sailing over the net....

Brad Marchand vs. Lindy Ruff

Thursday night's game between the Bruins and the Sabres may not have gone how most people predicted. This includes not only the score of the highly offensive game, but the bad blood between these two teams as well. The result of the game was a 7-4 win for Buffalo, and an angry and offended Brad Marchand. But Marchand wasn't angry with a Buffalo player, but rather the man...

Keys to the Game Vs. Leafs

The Bruins are coming off of a tough lose to the Buffalo Sabres 7-4. A game in which the Bruins played as bad defensively as they ever have. Lapses in defense gave up many break aways and two on ones. Irresponsible play by forwards and mistakes is what led to the break aways. The worst part of the lose was when Thornton got pumbled in a fight against John Scott and now Thornton is...

Grindin' Gears: Where The Defense Needs A GPS Because They're Lost

Grindin' Gears is a segment I started when Justin, Jon and Robb asked me to write for DOY. It was merely a weekly thing where I could rant and rave about the Bruins and whatever happened throughout those seven days. It was well received and has remained a staple throughout the three years I've been here. If you're new to the segment, it's an unedited, uncensored look...
